Daniel 9:2

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

5 חָטָ֥אנוּ וְעָוִ֖ינוּ (והרשענו) [הִרְשַׁ֣עְנוּ] וּמָרָ֑דְנוּ וְס֥וֹר מִמִּצְוֺתֶ֖ךָ וּמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃ nous avons péché et prévariqué, nous nous sommes abandonnés au mal et à la rébellion, écartés de tes préceptes et de tes statuts;
7 לְךָ֤ אֲדֹנָי֙ הַצְּדָקָ֔ה וְלָ֛נוּ בֹּ֥שֶׁת הַפָּנִ֖ים כַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה לְאִ֤ישׁ יְהוּדָה֙ וּלְיֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרֽוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וּֽלְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֞ל הַקְּרֹבִ֣ים וְהָרְחֹקִ֗ים בְּכׇל־הָֽאֲרָצוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִדַּחְתָּ֣ם שָׁ֔ם בְּמַעֲלָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר מָֽעֲלוּ־בָֽךְ׃ Avec toi, ô Seigneur, est le bon droit, et sur nous rejaillit la honte en ce jour, sur les hommes de Juda, les habitants de Jérusalem, et tous les Israélites, proches ou éloignés, dans tous les pays où tu les as relégués à cause de l’infidélité qu’ils ont commise à ton égard.
11 וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל עָֽבְרוּ֙ אֶת־תּ֣וֹרָתֶ֔ךָ וְס֕וֹר לְבִלְתִּ֖י שְׁמ֣וֹעַ בְּקֹלֶ֑ךָ וַתִּתַּ֨ךְ עָלֵ֜ינוּ הָאָלָ֣ה וְהַשְּׁבֻעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר כְּתוּבָה֙ בְּתוֹרַת֙ מֹשֶׁ֣ה עֶֽבֶד־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים כִּ֥י חָטָ֖אנוּ לֽוֹ׃ Tout Israël a transgressé ta loi et s’est détourné pour ne pas entendre ta voix; aussi, avons-nous vu fondre sur nous la malédiction et l’imprécation consignées dans la loi de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, parce que nous avons péché contre lui.
12 וַיָּ֜קֶם אֶת־[דְּבָר֣וֹ ׀] (דבריו) אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֣ר עָלֵ֗ינוּ וְעַ֤ל שֹֽׁפְטֵ֙ינוּ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שְׁפָט֔וּנוּ לְהָבִ֥יא עָלֵ֖ינוּ רָעָ֣ה גְדֹלָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־נֶעֶשְׂתָ֗ה תַּ֚חַת כׇּל־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר נֶעֶשְׂתָ֖ה בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ Il a exécuté la menace qu’il avait énoncée contre nous et contre les juges qui nous gouvernaient, en amenant sur nous un grand désastre; car sous toute l’étendue des cieux, il n’est arrivé rien de comparable à ce qui est arrivé à Jérusalem.
13 כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר כָּתוּב֙ בְּתוֹרַ֣ת מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֵ֛ת כׇּל־הָרָעָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את בָּ֣אָה עָלֵ֑ינוּ וְלֹֽא־חִלִּ֜ינוּ אֶת־פְּנֵ֣י ׀ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ לָשׁוּב֙ מֵֽעֲוֺנֵ֔נוּ וּלְהַשְׂכִּ֖יל בַּאֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ Conformément à ce qui est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, toute cette calamité nous a atteints, et nous n’avons pas cherché à fléchir l’Éternel, notre Dieu, en renonçant à nos fautes et en nous pénétrant de ta vérité.
15 וְעַתָּ֣ה ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י אֱלֹהֵ֗ינוּ אֲשֶׁר֩ הוֹצֵ֨אתָ אֶֽת־עַמְּךָ֜ מֵאֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ בְּיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֔ה וַתַּֽעַשׂ־לְךָ֥ שֵׁ֖ם כַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה חָטָ֖אנוּ רָשָֽׁעְנוּ׃ Et maintenant, Seigneur, notre Dieu, qui d’une main puissante as fait sortir ton peuple du pays d’Égypte, et qui t’es assuré un renom jusqu’à ce jour, nous avons péché et fait le mal.
Seigneur, pardonne!
Il me donna des éclaircissements et s’entretint avec moi; il me dit: "Daniel, je me suis mis en route présentement pour te donner une claire intelligence [des choses].
23 בִּתְחִלַּ֨ת תַּחֲנוּנֶ֜יךָ יָצָ֣א דָבָ֗ר וַאֲנִי֙ בָּ֣אתִי לְהַגִּ֔יד כִּ֥י חֲמוּד֖וֹת אָ֑תָּה וּבִין֙ בַּדָּבָ֔ר וְהָבֵ֖ן בַּמַּרְאֶֽה׃ Dès le début de tes supplications, une déclaration a été émise, et je suis venu te la communiquer; car tu es un être de prédilection.
25 וְתֵדַ֨ע וְתַשְׂכֵּ֜ל מִן־מֹצָ֣א דָבָ֗ר לְהָשִׁיב֙ וְלִבְנ֤וֹת יְרֽוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ עַד־מָשִׁ֣יחַ נָגִ֔יד שָׁבֻעִ֖ים שִׁבְעָ֑ה וְשָׁבֻעִ֞ים שִׁשִּׁ֣ים וּשְׁנַ֗יִם תָּשׁוּב֙ וְנִבְנְתָה֙ רְח֣וֹב וְחָר֔וּץ וּבְצ֖וֹק הָעִתִּֽים׃ Sache donc et comprends bien qu’à partir du moment où fut donné l’ordre de recommencer à reconstruire Jérusalem jusqu’à un prince oint il y a sept semaines; et durant soixante-deux semaines [Jérusalem] sera de nouveau rebâtie rues et fossés des remparts mais en pleine détresse des temps.

in the first year of his reign, I Daniel, considered the accounts of the number of years [(for the redemption from the Babylonian exile)], of which the L-rd spoke to Jeremiah the prophet [viz. Jeremiah 29:10], [(that redemption to take place)] upon the completion of seventy years of [the ascendancy of Bavel] over the ruins of Jerusalem.

Rashi

English

Contemplated the calculations Heb.

the number of the years, etc. I contemplated the calculation of the years, for I thought about what Jeremiah (29:10) prophesied: “For at the completion of seventy years of Babylon I will remember you,” and I thought that this remembrance is the building of the Temple, and that the seventy years end in the first year of Darius the Mede, since the kingdom of Babylon stretched forth a hand upon Israel, when Nebuchadnezzar vanquished Jehoiakim to be his slave. Now that was in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, as the master said (Meg. 11b): “In the first year he conquered Nineveh; in the second year he went up and vanquished Jehoiakim.” Figure from that year until now, and you will find them [the 70 years]. This calculation is found also in the Mishnah of Seder Olam (ch. 28), and we learned there that in the year of Belshazzar’s death were 70 years from the day that Nebuchadnezzar ascended the throne: seventy minus one since the day that he conquered Jehoiakim, and yet one more year for Babylon, which Darius completed. And when I [Daniel] saw that the redemption was not hastening to come, I contemplated and put my heart to the calculation, and I knew that I should not have counted according to the conquest of Jehoiakim but [according] to the destruction of Jerusalem, when 70 years will be complete from the exile of Zedekiah, when Jerusalem was destroyed. And there are yet 18 years to come, for this exile was in the eighteenth year counting from the conquest of Jehoiakim, as we learned in Seder Olam: “They were exiled in the seventh year; they were exiled in the eighth year; they were exiled in the eighteenth year; they were exiled in the nineteenth year.” Our Sages in Tractate Megillah (11b) explained that they were exiled in the exile of Jeconiah in the seventh year, counting from the conquest of Jehoiakim, which is the eighth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign. They were exiled a second time in the eighteenth year, counting from the conquest of Jehoiakim, which is the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign.
