1 וַיָּ֩שֶׂם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ (אחשרש) [אֲחַשְׁוֵר֧וֹשׁ] ׀ מַ֛ס עַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְאִיֵּ֥י הַיָּֽם׃ Ensuite le roi Assuérus imposa un tribut aux pays de terre ferme et aux îles de la mer.

2 וְכׇל־מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה תׇקְפּוֹ֙ וּגְב֣וּרָת֔וֹ וּפָרָשַׁת֙ גְּדֻלַּ֣ת מׇרְדֳּכַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר גִּדְּל֖וֹ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ הֲלוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֙פֶר֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י הַיָּמִ֔ים לְמַלְכֵ֖י מָדַ֥י וּפָרָֽס׃ Quant aux hauts faits de sa force et de sa puissance et à l’exposé détaillé de la grandeur de Mardochée, que le roi lui avait conférée, ils sont notés dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Médie et de Perse.

3 כִּ֣י ׀ מׇרְדֳּכַ֣י הַיְּהוּדִ֗י מִשְׁנֶה֙ לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ וְגָדוֹל֙ לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים וְרָצ֖וּי לְרֹ֣ב אֶחָ֑יו דֹּרֵ֥שׁ טוֹב֙ לְעַמּ֔וֹ וְדֹבֵ֥ר שָׁל֖וֹם לְכׇל־זַרְעֽוֹ׃ Car le juif Mardochée venait en second après le roi Assuérus; il était grand aux yeux des juifs, aimé de la foule de ses frères; il recherchait le bien de son peuple et défendait la cause de toute sa race.

English

King Ahasuerus imposed tribute on the land. [Areas] that were not under his kingship, but feared him, and also on islands distant from him. And the verse mentions this to inform that he succeeded in all of his ways, and his strength was seen, now that Mordekhai was his deputy.
