1 וְאַתָּ֤ה בֶן־אָדָם֙ קַח־לְךָ֣ לְבֵנָ֔ה וְנָתַתָּ֥ה אוֹתָ֖הּ לְפָנֶ֑יךָ וְחַקּוֹתָ֥ עָלֶ֛יהָ עִ֖יר אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ Et toi, fils de l’homme, prends-toi une brique: tu la placeras devant toi et tu y graveras une ville, Jérusalem.

2 וְנָתַתָּ֨ה עָלֶ֜יהָ מָצ֗וֹר וּבָנִ֤יתָ עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ דָּיֵ֔ק וְשָׁפַכְתָּ֥ עָלֶ֖יהָ סֹלְלָ֑ה וְנָתַתָּ֨ה עָלֶ֧יהָ מַחֲנ֛וֹת וְשִׂים־עָלֶ֥יהָ כָּרִ֖ים סָבִֽיב׃ Tu feras contre elle des travaux de siège, contre elle tu bâtiras un rempart, tu étendras une chaussée, tu établiras des camps, et tu dresseras des béliers tout autour.

3 וְאַתָּ֤ה קַח־לְךָ֙ מַחֲבַ֣ת בַּרְזֶ֔ל וְנָתַתָּ֤ה אוֹתָהּ֙ קִ֣יר בַּרְזֶ֔ל בֵּינְךָ֖ וּבֵ֣ין הָעִ֑יר וַהֲכִינֹתָה֩ אֶת־פָּנֶ֨יךָ אֵלֶ֜יהָ וְהָיְתָ֤ה בַמָּצוֹר֙ וְצַרְתָּ֣ עָלֶ֔יהָ א֥וֹת הִ֖יא לְבֵ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {פ}
Puis, prends-toi une poêle de fer et pose-la comme un mur de fer entre toi et la ville; tu tourneras ton visage vers celle-ci, elle sera en état de siège et tu l’investiras; que ce soit un signe pour la maison d’Israël!

4 וְאַתָּ֤ה שְׁכַב֙ עַל־צִדְּךָ֣ הַשְּׂמָאלִ֔י וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ אֶת־עֲוֺ֥ן בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עָלָ֑יו מִסְפַּ֤ר הַיָּמִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּשְׁכַּ֣ב עָלָ֔יו תִּשָּׂ֖א אֶת־עֲוֺנָֽם׃ Et toi, couche-toi sur le côté gauche, et tu y placeras l’iniquité de la maison d’Israël; pendant le nombre de jours où tu seras couché sur ce côté, tu porteras leur iniquité.

5 וַאֲנִ֗י נָתַ֤תִּֽי לְךָ֙ אֶת־שְׁנֵ֣י עֲוֺנָ֔ם לְמִסְפַּ֣ר יָמִ֔ים שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת וְתִשְׁעִ֖ים י֑וֹם וְנָשָׂ֖אתָ עֲוֺ֥ן בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Et moi, je te compte en jours les années de leur iniquité, trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours, et ainsi tu porteras l’iniquité de la maison d’Israël.

6 וְכִלִּיתָ֣ אֶת־אֵ֗לֶּה וְשָׁ֨כַבְתָּ֜ עַֽל־צִדְּךָ֤ (הימיני) [הַיְמָנִי֙] שֵׁנִ֔ית וְנָשָׂ֖אתָ אֶת־עֲוֺ֣ן בֵּית־יְהוּדָ֑ה אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם י֧וֹם לַשָּׁנָ֛ה י֥וֹם לַשָּׁנָ֖ה נְתַתִּ֥יו לָֽךְ׃ Quand tu les auras accomplis, tu te coucheras en second lieu sur le côté droit et tu porteras le péché de la maison de Juda pendant quarante jours; c’est jour pour année, jour pour année que je te l’impose.

7 וְאֶל־מְצ֤וֹר יְרוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ תָּכִ֣ין פָּנֶ֔יךָ וּֽזְרֹעֲךָ֖ חֲשׂוּפָ֑ה וְנִבֵּאתָ֖ עָלֶֽיהָ׃ Tu tourneras ta face vers le siège de Jérusalem, le bras dénudé, et tu prophétiseras sur elle.

8 וְהִנֵּ֛ה נָתַ֥תִּי עָלֶ֖יךָ עֲבוֹתִ֑ים וְלֹֽא־תֵהָפֵ֤ךְ מִֽצִּדְּךָ֙ אֶל־צִדֶּ֔ךָ עַד־כַּלּוֹתְךָ֖ יְמֵ֥י מְצוּרֶֽךָ׃ Voici que je t’ai chargé de chaînes, et tu ne te retourneras pas d’un côté sur l’autre jusqu’à la consommation des années de ton siège.

9 וְאַתָּ֣ה קַח־לְךָ֡ חִטִּ֡ין וּ֠שְׂעֹרִ֠ים וּפ֨וֹל וַעֲדָשִׁ֜ים וְדֹ֣חַן וְכֻסְּמִ֗ים וְנָתַתָּ֤ה אוֹתָם֙ בִּכְלִ֣י אֶחָ֔ד וְעָשִׂ֧יתָ אוֹתָ֛ם לְךָ֖ לְלָ֑חֶם מִסְפַּ֨ר הַיָּמִ֜ים אֲשֶׁר־אַתָּ֣ה ׀ שׁוֹכֵ֣ב עַֽל־צִדְּךָ֗ שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֧וֹת וְתִשְׁעִ֛ים י֖וֹם תֹּאכְלֶֽנּוּ׃ Et toi, prends-toi du froment, de l’orge, des fèves, des lentilles, du millet et de l’épeautre. Et tu les mettras dans un même vase et tu t’en feras du pain pour le nombre de jours que tu coucheras sur le côté: pendant trois cent quatre-vingt-dix jours, tu t’en nourriras.

10 וּמַאֲכָֽלְךָ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֹּאכְלֶ֔נּוּ בְּמִשְׁק֕וֹל עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שֶׁ֖קֶל לַיּ֑וֹם מֵעֵ֥ת עַד־עֵ֖ת תֹּאכְלֶֽנּוּ׃ Et ce mets dont tu te nourriras devra être pesé: le poids en sera de vingt sicles par jour, d’un bout à l’autre [de la période] tu le mangeras.

11 וּמַ֛יִם בִּמְשׂוּרָ֥ה תִשְׁתֶּ֖ה שִׁשִּׁ֣ית הַהִ֑ין מֵעֵ֥ת עַד־עֵ֖ת תִּשְׁתֶּֽה׃ Et tu boiras de l’eau à la mesure, à savoir un sixième de hin, d’un bout à l’autre [de la période].

12 וְעֻגַ֥ת שְׂעֹרִ֖ים תֹּאכְלֶ֑נָּה וְהִ֗יא בְּגֶֽלְלֵי֙ צֵאַ֣ת הָֽאָדָ֔ם תְּעֻגֶ֖נָה לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ {ס} Et tu en mangeras sous forme de galette d’orge, et cette galette, tu la feras cuire sur des boules d’excréments humains, à leurs yeux.

13 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהֹוָ֔ה כָּ֣כָה יֹאכְל֧וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת־לַחְמָ֖ם טָמֵ֑א בַּגּוֹיִ֕ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר אַדִּיחֵ֖ם שָֽׁם׃ Et l’Éternel dit: "Ainsi les enfants d’Israël mangeront leur pain souillé chez les peuples où je les disperserai."

14 וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲהָהּ֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה הִנֵּ֥ה נַפְשִׁ֖י לֹ֣א מְטֻמָּאָ֑ה וּנְבֵלָ֨ה וּטְרֵפָ֤ה לֹא־אָכַ֙לְתִּי֙ מִנְּעוּרַ֣י וְעַד־עַ֔תָּה וְלֹא־בָ֥א בְּפִ֖י בְּשַׂ֥ר פִּגּֽוּל׃ {ס} Et je dis: "Ah! Seigneur Dieu mais mon âme n’est point souillée, et je n’ai mangé de bête morte ni déchirée depuis mon enfance jusqu’à maintenant, et il n’est pas venu dans ma bouche de chair de rebut."

15 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י רְאֵ֗ה נָתַ֤תִּֽי לְךָ֙ אֶת־[צְפִיעֵ֣י] (צפועי) הַבָּקָ֔ר תַּ֖חַת גֶּלְלֵ֣י הָאָדָ֑ם וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ אֶֽת־לַחְמְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ {ס} Et il me dit: "Vois! Je t’accorde des fientes de bœuf au lieu des excréments de l’homme, et tu feras ton pain là-dessus."

16 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י בֶּן־אָדָם֙ הִנְנִ֨י שֹׁבֵ֤ר מַטֵּֽה־לֶ֙חֶם֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וְאָכְלוּ־לֶ֥חֶם בְּמִשְׁקָ֖ל וּבִדְאָגָ֑ה וּמַ֕יִם בִּמְשׂוּרָ֥ה וּבְשִׁמָּמ֖וֹן יִשְׁתּֽוּ׃ Il me dit encore: "Fils de l’homme, voici que je vais briser le bâton du pain dans Jérusalem, et ils mangeront le pain au poids et dans l’angoisse, et l’eau, c’est à la mesure et dans la désolation qu’ils la boiront,

17 לְמַ֥עַן יַחְסְר֖וּ לֶ֣חֶם וָמָ֑יִם וְנָשַׁ֙מּוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ וְאָחִ֔יו וְנָמַ֖קּוּ בַּעֲוֺנָֽם׃ {פ}
afin qu’ils manquent de pain et d’eau, qu’ils soient consternés les uns et les autres et qu’ils se consument dans leur iniquité."

I have given you the years of their iniquity, etc. I have made it easier for you to tolerate the pain that I Myself suffered for the number of the years that they sinned before Me: for you I converted it to that number in days. [Another explanation: שְּׁנֵי is like שְׁנַיִם, two, and so did Jonathan render: Now I have given you twice as much as their iniquity. This does not appear in other editions].

three hundred and ninety days We learned in Seder Olam (ch. 26): This teaches us that Israel sinned for three hundred and ninety years from the time they entered the Land until the ten tribes were exiled therefrom. You find [the events of] two hundred and forty-three of them delineated: From the time Jeroboam assumed the throne until Hoshea son of Elah was exiled and in “the days that the judges judged” are one hundred and eleven years. The rest, however, are not delineated. (These are [the calculations of] the three hundred and ninety years—that I found in a responsum from Rabbi Joseph, the head of the yeshivah—that the ten tribes sinned from the days of Joshua until Sannecherib exiled them from Samaria. Calculate: in the days of the Judges there were 8 years under the rule of Cushan, 18 under the rule of Eglon, 20 under the rule of Sisera, 7 under the rule of Midian, 18 under the rule of the children of Ammon, and 40 under the rule of the Philistines. This totals 111. From Micah until the Ark was captured were 40 years, totaling 151.
