1 וַיְשִׁבֵ֘נִי֮ אֶל־פֶּ֣תַח הַבַּ֒יִת֒ וְהִנֵּה־מַ֣יִם יֹצְאִ֗ים מִתַּ֨חַת מִפְתַּ֤ן הַבַּ֙יִת֙ קָדִ֔ימָה כִּֽי־פְנֵ֥י הַבַּ֖יִת קָדִ֑ים וְהַמַּ֣יִם יֹרְדִ֗ים מִתַּ֜חַת מִכֶּ֤תֶף הַבַּ֙יִת֙ הַיְמָנִ֔ית מִנֶּ֖גֶב לַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ Il me ramena à l’entrée de l’édifice, et voici que des eaux sortaient de dessous le seuil de l’édifice du côté de l’Est, car le front de l’édifice fait face à l’Est; et ces eaux descendaient en-dessous du côté droit de l’édifice, au Sud de l’autel.

2 וַיּוֹצִאֵ֘נִי֮ דֶּרֶךְ־שַׁ֣עַר צָפ֒וֹנָה֒ וַיְסִבֵּ֙נִי֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ ח֔וּץ אֶל־שַׁ֣עַר הַח֔וּץ דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַפּוֹנֶ֣ה קָדִ֑ים וְהִנֵּה־מַ֣יִם מְפַכִּ֔ים מִן־הַכָּתֵ֖ף הַיְמָנִֽית׃ Il me fit sortir par la porte du Nord et me fit tourner par le chemin extérieur jusqu’à la porte extérieure, située dans le chemin qui regarde vers l’Orient, et voici que des eaux coulaient du côté droit [de la porte].

3 בְּצֵאת־הָאִ֥ישׁ קָדִ֖ים וְקָ֣ו בְּיָד֑וֹ וַיָּ֤מׇד אֶ֙לֶף֙ בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֥נִי בַמַּ֖יִם מֵ֥י אׇפְסָֽיִם׃ Lorsque l’homme fut sorti vers l’Est, tenant un cordeau dans la main, Il mesura mille coudées et me fit traverser l’eau: cette eau venait aux chevilles.

4 וַיָּ֣מׇד אֶ֔לֶף וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֥נִי בַמַּ֖יִם מַ֣יִם בִּרְכָּ֑יִם וַיָּ֣מׇד אֶ֔לֶף וַיַּעֲבִרֵ֖נִי מֵ֥י מׇתְנָֽיִם׃ Il en mesura [encore] mille et me fit traverser l’eau: celle-ci arrivait aux genoux; il en mesura encore mille et me fit traverser: l’eau allait jusqu’aux reins.

5 וַיָּ֣מׇד אֶ֔לֶף נַ֕חַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־אוּכַ֖ל לַעֲבֹ֑ר כִּֽי־גָא֤וּ הַמַּ֙יִם֙ מֵ֣י שָׂ֔חוּ נַ֖חַל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־יֵעָבֵֽר׃ Il en mesura encore mille: c’était un torrent que je ne pouvais traverser, car les eaux s’étaient accrues, on y perdait pied: c’était un torrent impossible à traverser.

6 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלַ֖י הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־אָדָ֑ם וַיּוֹלִכֵ֥נִי וַיְשִׁבֵ֖נִי שְׂפַ֥ת הַנָּֽחַל׃ Il me dit: "As-tu vu, fils de l’homme?" Puis, il m’entraîna et me ramena au bord du torrent.

7 בְּשׁוּבֵ֕נִי וְהִנֵּה֙ אֶל־שְׂפַ֣ת הַנַּ֔חַל עֵ֖ץ רַ֣ב מְאֹ֑ד מִזֶּ֖ה וּמִזֶּֽה׃ Lorsque je revins, voici qu’il y avait sur le bord du torrent un grand nombre d’arbres, des deux côtés.

8 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י הַמַּ֤יִם הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ יוֹצְאִ֗ים אֶל־הַגְּלִילָה֙ הַקַּדְמוֹנָ֔ה וְיָרְד֖וּ עַל־הָעֲרָבָ֑ה וּבָ֣אוּ הַיָּ֔מָּה אֶל־הַיָּ֥מָּה הַמּוּצָאִ֖ים וְנִרְפּ֥אוּ הַמָּֽיִם׃ Et il me dit: "Ces eaux se dirigent vers le district oriental, et, après être descendues dans la plaine, elles se jettent dans la mer, dans la mer aux eaux infectes, qui seront ainsi assainies.

9 וְהָיָ֣ה כׇל־נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֣ה ׀ אֲֽשֶׁר־יִשְׁרֹ֡ץ אֶ֣ל כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר֩ יָב֨וֹא שָׁ֤ם נַחֲלַ֙יִם֙ יִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְהָיָ֥ה הַדָּגָ֖ה רַבָּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד כִּי֩ בָ֨אוּ שָׁ֜מָּה הַמַּ֣יִם הָאֵ֗לֶּה וְיֵרָֽפְאוּ֙ וָחָ֔י כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יָ֥בוֹא שָׁ֖מָּה הַנָּֽחַל׃ Et alors tous les êtres animés qui y grouillent, partout où arriveront les flots du torrent, ils vivront, et le poisson sera extrêmement abondant; ces eaux une fois venues là, [celles de la mer] seront assainies, et vivra tout ce qui sera en contact avec le torrent.

10 וְהָיָה֩ (יעמדו) [עָמְד֨וּ] עָלָ֜יו דַּוָּגִ֗ים מֵעֵ֥ין גֶּ֙דִי֙ וְעַד־עֵ֣ין עֶגְלַ֔יִם מִשְׁט֥וֹחַ לַחֲרָמִ֖ים יִֽהְי֑וּ לְמִינָהֿ֙ תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה דְגָתָ֔ם כִּדְגַ֛ת הַיָּ֥ם הַגָּד֖וֹל רַבָּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ Alors les pêcheurs se tiendront sur ses bords, d’En-Ghedi jusqu’à En-Eglaim; il y aura là des étendoirs de filets. Les poissons s’y trouveront, selon leurs espèces, comme les poissons de la Grande Mer, extrêmement nombreux.

11 בִּצֹּאתָ֧ו וּגְבָאָ֛יו וְלֹ֥א יֵרָפְא֖וּ לְמֶ֥לַח נִתָּֽנוּ׃ [Cependant] ses mares et ses bas-fonds ne seront pas assainis: ils seront destinés à produire du sel.

12 וְעַל־הַנַּ֣חַל יַעֲלֶ֣ה עַל־שְׂפָת֣וֹ מִזֶּ֣ה ׀ וּמִזֶּ֣ה ׀ כׇּל־עֵֽץ־מַ֠אֲכָ֠ל לֹא־יִבּ֨וֹל עָלֵ֜הוּ וְלֹֽא־יִתֹּ֣ם פִּרְי֗וֹ לׇחֳדָשָׁיו֙ יְבַכֵּ֔ר כִּ֣י מֵימָ֔יו מִן־הַמִּקְדָּ֖שׁ הֵ֣מָּה יוֹצְאִ֑ים (והיו) [וְהָיָ֤ה] פִרְיוֹ֙ לְמַאֲכָ֔ל וְעָלֵ֖הוּ לִתְרוּפָֽה׃ {פ}
Et, près du torrent, sur ses bords, des deux côtés, s’élèveront toutes sortes d’arbres fruitiers, dont les feuilles ne se flétriront pas et dont les fruits ne s’épuiseront point. Chaque mois, ils donneront de nouveaux fruits, car leurs eaux sortent du sanctuaire: leur fruit servira de nourriture et leurs feuilles de remèdes."

13 כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה גֵּ֤ה גְבוּל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּתְנַחֲל֣וּ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ לִשְׁנֵ֥י עָשָׂ֖ר שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יוֹסֵ֖ף חֲבָלִֽים׃ Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Voici la délimitation du pays que vous attribuerez en héritage aux douze tribus d’Israël: Joseph aura deux parts.

14 וּנְחַלְתֶּ֤ם אוֹתָהּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ כְּאָחִ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֤ר נָשָׂ֙אתִי֙ אֶת־יָדִ֔י לְתִתָּ֖הּ לַאֲבֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם וְנָ֨פְלָ֜ה הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לָכֶ֖ם בְּנַחֲלָֽה׃ Vous en hériterez l’un à l’égal de l’autre, car j’ai juré de le donner à vos pères, et ce pays va vous échoir en partage.

15 וְזֶ֖ה גְּב֣וּל הָאָ֑רֶץ לִפְאַ֨ת צָפ֜וֹנָה מִן־הַיָּ֧ם הַגָּד֛וֹל הַדֶּ֥רֶךְ חֶתְלֹ֖ן לְב֥וֹא צְדָֽדָה׃ Voici donc les frontières du pays: du côté du Nord, depuis la grande Mer, la route de Hetlôn jusque vers Cedad,

16 חֲמָ֤ת ׀ בֵּר֙וֹתָה֙ סִבְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁר֙ בֵּין־גְּב֣וּל דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וּבֵ֖ין גְּב֣וּל חֲמָ֑ת חָצֵר֙ הַתִּיכ֔וֹן אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֶל־גְּב֥וּל חַוְרָֽן׃ Hamat, Bérota, Sibraïm, entre la frontière de Damas et la frontière de Hamat; Hacerhatticôn vers la frontière de Havran.

17 וְהָיָ֨ה גְב֜וּל מִן־הַיָּ֗ם חֲצַ֤ר עֵינוֹן֙ גְּב֣וּל דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וְצָפ֥וֹן ׀ צָפ֖וֹנָה וּגְב֣וּל חֲמָ֑ת וְאֵ֖ת פְּאַ֥ת צָפֽוֹן׃ La frontière s’étendra donc depuis la mer jusqu’à Haçar-Enon, la frontière de Damas, Çafôn au Nord et la frontière de Hamat: telle sera la limite du côté Nord.

18 וּפְאַ֣ת קָדִ֡ים מִבֵּ֣ין חַוְרָ֣ן וּמִבֵּין־דַּמֶּ֩שֶׂק֩ וּמִבֵּ֨ין הַגִּלְעָ֜ד וּמִבֵּ֨ין אֶ֤רֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן מִגְּב֛וּל עַל־הַיָּ֥ם הַקַּדְמוֹנִ֖י תָּמֹ֑דּוּ וְאֵ֖ת פְּאַ֥ת קָדִֽימָה׃ La limite du côté de l’Est s’étend entre Havran et Damas, entre Galaad et le pays d’Israël, le long du Jourdain; vous mesurerez depuis la frontière jusqu’à la mer orientale: telle sera la limite du côté Est.

19 וּפְאַת֙ נֶ֣גֶב תֵּימָ֔נָה מִתָּמָ֗ר עַד־מֵי֙ מְרִיב֣וֹת קָדֵ֔שׁ נַחֲלָ֖ה אֶל־הַיָּ֣ם הַגָּד֑וֹל וְאֵ֥ת פְּאַת־תֵּימָ֖נָה נֶֽגְבָּה׃ La limite du côté du Sud, au Midi, ira depuis Tamar jusqu’aux eaux de Méribot-Kadêch, le long du torrent jusqu’à la grande Mer: telle sera la limite du côté méridional, au Sud.

20 וּפְאַת־יָם֙ הַיָּ֣ם הַגָּד֔וֹל מִגְּב֕וּל עַד־נֹ֖כַח לְב֣וֹא חֲמָ֑ת זֹ֖את פְּאַת־יָֽם׃ La limite du côté de l’Ouest, ce sera la grande Mer depuis la frontière [Sud] jusque droit dans la direction de Hamat: telle sera la limite du côté Ouest.

21 וְחִלַּקְתֶּ֞ם אֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לָכֶ֖ם לְשִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Vous partagerez ce pays entre vous, selon les tribus d’Israël.

22 וְהָיָ֗ה תַּפִּ֣לוּ אוֹתָהּ֮ בְּנַחֲלָה֒ לָכֶ֗ם וּלְהַגֵּרִים֙ הַגָּרִ֣ים בְּתוֹכְכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־הוֹלִ֥דוּ בָנִ֖ים בְּתוֹכְכֶ֑ם וְהָי֣וּ לָכֶ֗ם כְּאֶזְרָח֙ בִּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִתְּכֶם֙ יִפְּל֣וּ בְנַֽחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Et vous aurez à l’attribuer en héritage à vous et aux étrangers séjournant parmi vous, qui auront engendré des enfants parmi vous. Ils seront pour vous comme l’indigène parmi les enfants d’Israël; avec vous ils participeront à l’héritage au milieu des tribus d’Israël.

23 וְהָיָ֣ה בַשֵּׁ֔בֶט אֲשֶׁר־גָּ֥ר הַגֵּ֖ר אִתּ֑וֹ שָׁ֚ם תִּתְּנ֣וּ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה׃ {פ}
Et ce sera dans la tribu même où l’étranger sera domicilié que vous lui donnerez sa part d’héritage, dit le Seigneur Dieu."

And the border shall be from the sea to Hazer-enon The northern border shall be from the sea until Hazer-enon.

the border of Damascus [i.e.,] which is on the border of Damascus, i.e., Hazer-enon is on the northeastern corner, as is explicated in the [description of] the boundaries which Moses, our master, may he rest in peace, wrote (Num. 34:9-10f.): “and its ends shall be Hazer -as your eastern border [the territory] from Hazer-enan, etc.” The border of Damascus is in the northeastern corner beside Hazer-enan, as is stated above: “Hazer-enan” and “the border of Damascus.” The border of Hamath is at the northwestern corner, as is stated (ibid. v. 7f.): “And this shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line extending to the road [leading] to Hamath, and from there to Zedad.”

and in the north northward is the border of Hamath i.e., the entire northern border delineated in the Torah, and the border of Hamath-which is also on the northern border as is stated (ibid. verse 7f.): “And this shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line extending to Mount Hor. From Mount Hor you shall draw a line extending to the road [leading] to Hamath, and the ends of the border shall be toward Zedad.” That is the Zedad mentioned here: “the way to Hethlon to the road [leading] to Zedad.”
