1 וְאַתָּ֨ה בֶן־אָדָ֜ם קַח־לְךָ֣ ׀ חֶ֣רֶב חַדָּ֗ה תַּ֤עַר הַגַּלָּבִים֙ תִּקָּחֶ֣נָּה לָּ֔ךְ וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ֥ עַל־רֹאשְׁךָ֖ וְעַל־זְקָנֶ֑ךָ וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ לְךָ֛ מֹאזְנֵ֥י מִשְׁקָ֖ל וְחִלַּקְתָּֽם׃ O toi, fils de l’homme, prends-toi un glaive affilé, prends-le en guise de rasoir de barbiers; tu te le passeras sur la tête et sur la barbe; puis tu prendras une balance à poids et tu les diviseras.

2 שְׁלִשִׁ֗ית בָּא֤וּר תַּבְעִיר֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֔יר כִּמְלֹ֖את יְמֵ֣י הַמָּצ֑וֹר וְלָקַחְתָּ֣ אֶת־הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֗ית תַּכֶּ֤ה בַחֶ֙רֶב֙ סְבִ֣יבוֹתֶ֔יהָ וְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ תִּזְרֶ֣ה לָר֔וּחַ וְחֶ֖רֶב אָרִ֥יק אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ Tu en feras brûler un tiers dans le feu au milieu de la ville, quand seront révolus les jours du siège; puis tu en prendras un tiers, que tu frapperas avec le glaive tout autour, et tu en disperseras un tiers au vent, et je tirerai le glaive derrière eux.

3 וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ מִשָּׁ֖ם מְעַ֣ט בְּמִסְפָּ֑ר וְצַרְתָּ֥ אוֹתָ֖ם בִּכְנָפֶֽיךָ׃ Et de là tu prendras une petite quantité que tu serreras dans les pans [de tes vêtements].

4 וּמֵהֶם֙ ע֣וֹד תִּקָּ֔ח וְהִשְׁלַכְתָּ֤ אוֹתָם֙ אֶל־תּ֣וֹךְ הָאֵ֔שׁ וְשָׂרַפְתָּ֥ אֹתָ֖ם בָּאֵ֑שׁ מִמֶּ֥נּוּ תֵֽצֵא־אֵ֖שׁ אֶל־כׇּל־בֵּ֥ית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {פ}
Et tu en prendras encore et tu les jetteras au milieu du feu et tu les brûleras dans le feu; il en sortira un feu contre toute la maison d’Israël.

5 כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה זֹ֚את יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם בְּת֥וֹךְ הַגּוֹיִ֖ם שַׂמְתִּ֑יהָ וּסְבִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ אֲרָצֽוֹת׃ Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: "Voilà Jérusalem: je l’avais placée au milieu des nations et autour d’elle étaient des pays.

6 וַתֶּ֨מֶר אֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֤י לְרִשְׁעָה֙ מִן־הַגּוֹיִ֔ם וְאֶ֨ת־חֻקּוֹתַ֔י מִן־הָאֲרָצ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִיבוֹתֶ֑יהָ כִּ֤י בְמִשְׁפָּטַי֙ מָאָ֔סוּ וְחֻקּוֹתַ֖י לֹא־הָלְכ֥וּ בָהֶֽם׃ {ס} Et elle s’est insurgée contre mes prescriptions avec plus d’impiété que les nations, et contre mes statuts plus que les pays qui l’environnent; oui, ils ont fait fi de mes prescriptions et n’ont pas marché selon mes statuts.

7 לָכֵ֞ן כֹּה־אָמַ֣ר ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֗ה יַ֤עַן הֲמׇנְכֶם֙ מִן־הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶ֔ם בְּחֻקּוֹתַי֙ לֹ֣א הֲלַכְתֶּ֔ם וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֖י לֹ֣א עֲשִׂיתֶ֑ם וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵ֧י הַגּוֹיִ֛ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם לֹ֥א עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃ C’est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur Dieu, parce que vous avez été plus agités que les nations qui vous entourent, que vous n’avez pas marché selon mes statuts. Et que vous n’avez pas exécuté mes règlements, et que vous n’avez pas agi selon les règlements des nations qui vous entourent,

8 לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה הִנְנִ֥י עָלַ֖יִךְ גַּם־אָ֑נִי וְעָשִׂ֧יתִי בְתוֹכֵ֛ךְ מִשְׁפָּטִ֖ים לְעֵינֵ֥י הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ c’est pourquoi, ainsi a dit le Seigneur Dieu, me voici sur toi, moi aussi; et j’accomplirai au milieu de toi des jugements aux yeux des nations.

9 וְעָשִׂ֣יתִי בָ֗ךְ אֵ֚ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־עָשִׂ֔יתִי וְאֵ֛ת אֲשֶֽׁר־לֹא־אֶעֱשֶׂ֥ה כָמֹ֖הוּ ע֑וֹד יַ֖עַן כׇּל־תּוֹעֲבֹתָֽיִךְ׃ {פ}
Je ferai contre toi ce que je n’ai jamais fait et ce que je ne ferai plus, à cause de toutes tes abominations.

10 לָכֵ֗ן אָב֞וֹת יֹאכְל֤וּ בָנִים֙ בְּתוֹכֵ֔ךְ וּבָנִ֖ים יֹאכְל֣וּ אֲבוֹתָ֑ם וְעָשִׂ֤יתִי בָךְ֙ שְׁפָטִ֔ים וְזֵרִיתִ֥י אֶת־כׇּל־שְׁאֵרִיתֵ֖ךְ לְכׇל־רֽוּחַ׃ {ס} En vérité, des pères mangeront leurs enfants au milieu de toi, et des enfants mangeront leurs pères, et j’accomplirai contre toi des jugements et je disperserai tout ce qui restera de toi à tous les vents.

11 לָכֵ֣ן חַי־אָ֗נִי נְאֻם֮ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִה֒ אִם־לֹ֗א יַ֚עַן אֶת־מִקְדָּשִׁ֣י טִמֵּ֔את בְּכׇל־שִׁקּוּצַ֖יִךְ וּבְכׇל־תּוֹעֲבֹתָ֑יִךְ וְגַם־אֲנִ֤י אֶגְרַע֙ וְלֹא־תָח֣וֹס עֵינִ֔י וְגַם־אֲנִ֖י לֹ֥א אֶחְמֽוֹל׃ En vérité, par ma vie, dit le Seigneur Dieu, je l’affirme, parce que tu as déshonoré mon sanctuaire par toutes tes Infamies et toutes tes abominations. Moi aussi j’exercerai des ravages, mon œil ne sera pas Indulgent, et moi aussi je serai sans pitié.

12 שְׁלִשִׁתֵ֞יךְ בַּדֶּ֣בֶר יָמ֗וּתוּ וּבָֽרָעָב֙ יִכְל֣וּ בְתוֹכֵ֔ךְ וְהַ֨שְּׁלִשִׁ֔ית בַּחֶ֖רֶב יִפְּל֣וּ סְבִיבוֹתָ֑יִךְ וְהַשְּׁלִישִׁית֙ לְכׇל־ר֣וּחַ אֱזָרֶ֔ה וְחֶ֖רֶב אָרִ֥יק אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ Un tiers de toi périra par la peste et s’épuisera par la famine au milieu de toi; un tiers tombera sous le glaive dans tes alentours, et je dispersera` un tiers à tous les vents et tirerai le glaive derrière eux.

13 וְכָלָ֣ה אַפִּ֗י וַהֲנִחוֹתִ֧י חֲמָתִ֛י בָּ֖ם וְהִנֶּחָ֑מְתִּי וְֽיָדְע֞וּ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה דִּבַּ֙רְתִּי֙ בְּקִנְאָתִ֔י בְּכַלּוֹתִ֥י חֲמָתִ֖י בָּֽם׃ Et ma colère ira jusqu’au bout, j’assouvirai ma fureur sur eux, et je me trouverai satisfait; ils sauront alors que je suis l’Éternel, que j’ai parlé dans mon zèle jaloux, quand j’aurai épuisé ma fureur sur eux.

14 וְאֶתְּנֵךְ֙ לְחׇרְבָּ֣ה וּלְחֶרְפָּ֔ה בַּגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִיבוֹתָ֑יִךְ לְעֵינֵ֖י כׇּל־עוֹבֵֽר׃ Et je ferai de toi une ruine et un opprobre parmi les nations qui t’entourent, aux yeux, de tout passant.

15 וְֽהָ֨יְתָ֜ה חֶרְפָּ֤ה וּגְדוּפָה֙ מוּסָ֣ר וּמְשַׁמָּ֔ה לַגּוֹיִ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִיבוֹתָ֑יִךְ בַּעֲשׂ֩וֹתִי֩ בָ֨ךְ שְׁפָטִ֜ים בְּאַ֤ף וּבְחֵמָה֙ וּבְתֹכְח֣וֹת חֵמָ֔ה אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃ Ce sera un opprobre et une cause d’outrage, une leçon et une stupeur pour les nations qui t’entourent, quand j’accomplirai sur toi des jugements avec colère et fureur et avec de violents sévices c’est moi l’Éternel, qui ai parlé.

16 בְּֽשַׁלְּחִ֡י אֶת־חִצֵּי֩ הָרָעָ֨ב הָרָעִ֤ים בָּהֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָי֣וּ לְמַשְׁחִ֔ית אֲשֶׁר־אֲשַׁלַּ֥ח אוֹתָ֖ם לְשַׁחֶתְכֶ֑ם וְרָעָב֙ אֹסֵ֣ף עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם וְשָׁבַרְתִּ֥י לָכֶ֖ם מַטֵּה־לָֽחֶם׃ Quand j’aurai envoyé contre eux les aiguillons cruels de la famine, ces instruments de destruction, que j’enverrai pour vous détruire, j’aggraverai contre vous la famine et je briserai pour vous le bâton de pain.

17 וְשִׁלַּחְתִּ֣י עֲ֠לֵיכֶ֠ם רָעָ֞ב וְחַיָּ֤ה רָעָה֙ וְשִׁכְּלֻ֔ךְ וְדֶ֥בֶר וָדָ֖ם יַעֲבׇר־בָּ֑ךְ וְחֶ֙רֶב֙ אָבִ֣יא עָלַ֔יִךְ אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃ {פ}
Et j’enverrai contre vous la famine et les bêtes féroces, qui te laisseront sans enfants, et la peste et le sang passeront sur toi, et j’amènerai le glaive sur toi. C’est moi l’Éternel qui ai parlé."

This is a sign that a third of them will perish in the heat of hunger in its midst, which is like fire, in the same way that it says (Lam. 5:10): “Our skin is parched as by a furnace because of the heat of hunger.”
