1 וַיִּקְרָ֣א בְאׇזְנַ֗י ק֤וֹל גָּדוֹל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר קָרְב֖וּ פְּקֻדּ֣וֹת הָעִ֑יר וְאִ֛ישׁ כְּלִ֥י מַשְׁחֵת֖וֹ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ Puis il cria à mes oreilles d’une voix forte, disant: "Approchez, fléaux de la ville, chacun son engin de destruction à la main."

2 וְהִנֵּ֣ה שִׁשָּׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֡ים בָּאִ֣ים ׀ מִדֶּרֶךְ־שַׁ֨עַר הָעֶלְי֜וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ מׇפְנֶ֣ה צָפ֗וֹנָה וְאִ֨ישׁ כְּלִ֤י מַפָּצוֹ֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ וְאִישׁ־אֶחָ֤ד בְּתוֹכָם֙ לָבֻ֣שׁ בַּדִּ֔ים וְקֶ֥סֶת הַסֹּפֵ֖ר בְּמׇתְנָ֑יו וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ אֵ֖צֶל מִזְבַּ֥ח הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃ Et voici que six hommes venaient du côté de la porte supérieure qui regarde au Nord, chacun avec son engin de ruine à la main, et il y avait un homme au milieu d’eux, vêtu de lin, avec l’écritoire du scribe aux reins, et ils vinrent se poster près de l’autel de cuivre.

3 וּכְב֣וֹד ׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נַֽעֲלָה֙ מֵעַ֤ל הַכְּרוּב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה עָלָ֔יו אֶ֖ל מִפְתַּ֣ן הַבָּ֑יִת וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶל־הָאִישׁ֙ הַלָּבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֛ר קֶ֥סֶת הַסֹּפֵ֖ר בְּמׇתְנָֽיו׃ {פ}
Et la gloire du Dieu d’Israël s’éleva, de dessus le Chérubin sur lequel elle se trouvait, vers le seuil de la maison et appela l’homme vêtu de lin qui avait l’écritoire du scribe aux reins.

4 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֵלָ֔ו עֲבֹר֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֔יר בְּת֖וֹךְ יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְהִתְוִ֨יתָ תָּ֜ו עַל־מִצְח֣וֹת הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים הַנֶּֽאֱנָחִים֙ וְהַנֶּ֣אֱנָקִ֔ים עַ֚ל כׇּל־הַתּ֣וֹעֵב֔וֹת הַֽנַּעֲשׂ֖וֹת בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃ L’Éternel lui dit: "Passe au milieu de la ville, au milieu de Jérusalem, et tu dessineras un signe sur le front des hommes qui soupirent et gémissent à cause de toutes les iniquités qui s’y commettent."

5 וּלְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ אָמַ֣ר בְּאׇזְנַ֔י עִבְר֥וּ בָעִ֛יר אַחֲרָ֖יו וְהַכּ֑וּ (על) [אַל־]תָּחֹ֥ס (עיניכם) [עֵינְכֶ֖ם] וְאַל־תַּחְמֹֽלוּ׃ Et aux autres il dit, à mes oreilles: "Passez dans la ville derrière lui, et frappez; que votre œil n’ait pas d’indulgence et n’ayez pas pitié.

6 זָקֵ֡ן בָּח֣וּר וּבְתוּלָה֩ וְטַ֨ף וְנָשִׁ֜ים תַּהַרְג֣וּ לְמַשְׁחִ֗ית וְעַל־כׇּל־אִ֨ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־עָלָ֤יו הַתָּו֙ אַל־תִּגַּ֔שׁוּ וּמִמִּקְדָּשִׁ֖י תָּחֵ֑לּוּ וַיָּחֵ֙לּוּ֙ בָּאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י הַבָּֽיִת׃ Vieillards, jeunes gens et jeunes filles, enfants et femmes, tuez-les, détruisez-les, mais de tout homme qui porte le signe n’approchez pas, et commencez par mon sanctuaire. " Ils commencèrent par les hommes âgés qui étaient devant le temple."

7 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם טַמְּא֣וּ אֶת־הַבַּ֗יִת וּמַלְא֧וּ אֶת־הַחֲצֵר֛וֹת חֲלָלִ֖ים צֵ֑אוּ וְיָצְא֖וּ וְהִכּ֥וּ בָעִֽיר׃ Et il leur dit: "Profanez la maison et remplissez les cours de cadavres; sortez!" Et ils sortirent et frappèrent dans la ville.

8 וַֽיְהִי֙ כְּהַכּוֹתָ֔ם וְנֵֽאשְׁאַ֖ר אָ֑נִי וָאֶפְּלָ֨ה עַל־פָּנַ֜י וָאֶזְעַ֗ק וָֽאֹמַר֙ אֲהָהּ֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה הֲמַשְׁחִ֣ית אַתָּ֗ה אֵ֚ת כׇּל־שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּשׇׁפְכְּךָ֥ אֶת־חֲמָתְךָ֖ עַל־יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ Or, comme ils frappaient, et que je demeurais là, je tombai sur ma face, je criai et dis: "Hélas! Seigneur Dieu, vas-tu détruire tout ce qui reste d’Israël en épanchant ta colère sur Jérusalem?"

9 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י עֲוֺ֨ן בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל וִֽיהוּדָה֙ גָּדוֹל֙ בִּמְאֹ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ דָּמִ֔ים וְהָעִ֖יר מָלְאָ֣ה מֻטֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י אָמְר֗וּ עָזַ֤ב יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֵ֥ין יְהֹוָ֖ה רֹאֶֽה׃ Il me dit: "L’iniquité de la maison d’Israël et de Juda est grande, très grande, le pays est rempli de sang, la ville est remplie de dénis de justice, car ils ont dit: "L’Éternel a délaissé le pays, l’Éternel ne voit pas."

10 וְגַ֨ם־אֲנִ֔י לֹא־תָח֥וֹס עֵינִ֖י וְלֹ֣א אֶחְמֹ֑ל דַּרְכָּ֖ם בְּרֹאשָׁ֥ם נָתָֽתִּי׃ Moi non plus, mon œil n’aura pas d’indulgence et je n’aurai pas de pitié, je ferai retomber leurs actes sur leur tête.

11 וְהִנֵּ֞ה הָאִ֣ישׁ ׀ לְבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר הַקֶּ֙סֶת֙ בְּמׇתְנָ֔יו מֵשִׁ֥יב דָּבָ֖ר לֵאמֹ֑ר עָשִׂ֕יתִי (כאשר) [כְּכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר] צִוִּיתָֽנִי׃ {פ}
"Et voici que l’homme, vêtu de lin, qui avait l’écritoire aux reins, fit son rapport en disant: "J’ai agi comme tu m’avais commandé."

and you shall commence from My sanctuary From those standing before My sanctuary. Our Rabbis said: Do not read וּמִמִִִּקְדָשִּׁי, and from My sanctuary, but וּמִמְּקֻדָשַּׁי, and from My sanctified ones, from those sanctified to Me. They are the ones marked with the sign, whom He had warned [them] not to hurt. [Now] He reneged and commanded [the angels] to destroy [even] them because the Divine standard of justice contended before Him, “Why are these different from those? Is it not so that they did not protest?” As is stated in Tractate Shabbath (55a).
