1 וַ֠יִּשְׁלַ֠ח (חירם) [חוּרָ֨ם] מֶלֶךְ־צֹ֥ר מַלְאָכִים֮ אֶל־דָּוִיד֒ וַעֲצֵ֣י אֲרָזִ֔ים וְחָרָשֵׁ֣י קִ֔יר וְחָרָשֵׁ֖י עֵצִ֑ים לִבְנ֥וֹת ל֖וֹ בָּֽיִת׃ Hiram, roi de Tyr, envoya une députation à David, avec du bois de cèdre, des maçons et des charpentiers pour lui bâtir une maison.

2 וַיֵּ֣דַע דָּוִ֔יד כִּֽי־הֱכִינ֧וֹ יְהֹוָ֛ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּֽי־נִשֵּׂ֤את לְמַ֙עְלָה֙ מַלְכוּת֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס} Et David reconnut que le Seigneur l’avait destiné à régner sur Israël, et lui avait accordé une royauté glorieuse en faveur de son peuple Israël.

3 וַיִּקַּ֨ח דָּוִ֥יד ע֛וֹד נָשִׁ֖ים בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיּ֧וֹלֶד דָּוִ֛יד ע֖וֹד בָּנִ֥ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃ David prit encore des épouses dans Jérusalem, et il engendra encore des fils et des filles.

4 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ שְׁמ֣וֹת הַיְלוּדִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיוּ־ל֖וֹ בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם שַׁמּ֣וּעַ וְשׁוֹבָ֔ב נָתָ֖ן וּשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃ Voici les noms de ceux qui lui naquirent à Jérusalem: Chammoua, Chobab, Nathan et Salomon;

5 וְיִבְחָ֥ר וֶאֱלִישׁ֖וּעַ וְאֶלְפָּֽלֶט׃ Yibhar, Elichoua, Elpélet;

6 וְנֹ֥גַהּ וְנֶ֖פֶג וְיָפִֽיעַ׃ Nogah, Néfeg et Yafia;

7 וֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וּבְעֶלְיָדָ֖ע וֶאֱלִיפָֽלֶט׃ {פ}

8 וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כׇל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַיֵּצֵ֖א לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Les Philistins, ayant su que David avait été oint comme roi de tout Israël, montèrent tous pour chercher à le prendre; David l’apprit et sortit à leur rencontre.

9 וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בָּ֑אוּ וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃ Les Philistins étaient arrivés et s’étaient déployés dans la vallée de Refaïm.

10 וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל דָּוִ֤יד בֵּאלֹהִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ עַל־[פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים] (פלשתיים) וּנְתַתָּ֖ם בְּיָדִ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ל֤וֹ יְהֹוָה֙ עֲלֵ֔ה וּנְתַתִּ֖ים בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ Alors David consulta Dieu en disant: "Dois-je monter vers les Philistins? Les livreras-tu entre mes mains?" Le Seigneur répondit à David: "Monte, je les livrerai entre tes mains.

11 וַיַּעֲל֥וּ בְּבַֽעַל־פְּרָצִים֮ וַיַּכֵּ֣ם שָׁ֣ם דָּוִיד֒ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד פָּרַ֨ץ הָאֱלֹהִ֧ים אֶת־אוֹיְבַ֛י בְּיָדִ֖י כְּפֶ֣רֶץ מָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֗ן קָ֥רְא֛וּ שֵֽׁם־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בַּ֥עַל פְּרָצִֽים׃ On monta à Baal-Peraçim, et David les y battit. Et il dit: "Dieu a dispersé mes ennemis par ma main, comme une eau débordée." C’est pour cela que cet endroit fut nommé Baal-Peracim.

12 וַיַּ֥עַזְבוּ שָׁ֖ם אֶת־אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ {פ}
Ils laissèrent là leurs idoles, qui furent brûlées sur l’ordre de David.

13 וַיֹּסִ֤יפוּ עוֹד֙ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ Mais de nouveau les Philistins se déployèrent dans la vallée.

14 וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל ע֤וֹד דָּוִיד֙ בֵּאלֹהִ֔ים וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹ֥א תַעֲלֶ֖ה אַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם הָסֵב֙ מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וּבָ֥אתָ לָהֶ֖ם מִמּ֥וּל הַבְּכָאִֽים׃ David consulta encore Dieu, et Dieu lui répondit: "Ne monte pas à leur suite: fais un demi-tour et marche sur eux du côté des bekhaïm.

15 וִ֠יהִ֠י כְּֽשׇׁמְעֲךָ֞ אֶת־ק֤וֹל הַצְּעָדָה֙ בְּרָאשֵׁ֣י הַבְּכָאִ֔ים אָ֖ז תֵּצֵ֣א בַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָצָ֤א הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ לְהַכּ֖וֹת אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ Or, lorsque tu entendras un bruit de pas sur les cimes des bekhaïm, engage le combat, car alors Dieu sera venu à ton secours, pour que tu battes l’armée des Philistins."

16 וַיַּ֣עַשׂ דָּוִ֔יד כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖הוּ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיַּכּוּ֙ אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים מִגִּבְע֖וֹן וְעַד־גָּֽזְרָה׃ David se conforma aux instructions de Dieu, et ils battirent l’armée des Philistins depuis Ghibôn jusqu’à Ghézer.

17 וַיֵּצֵ֥א שֵׁם־דָּוִ֖יד בְּכׇל־הָאֲרָצ֑וֹת וַיהֹוָ֛ה נָתַ֥ן אֶת־פַּחְדּ֖וֹ עַל־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ Et la renommée de David se répandit dans tous les pays, et l’Éternel imprima sa terreur à toutes les nations.

And the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up because the Philistines had been ruling all the time until Saul and David came, as it is written (Jud. 15:11) concerning Samson: “Did you not know that the Philistines rule over us?” And likewise, (I Samuel 4:9): “Strengthen yourselves and become men, you Philistines, lest you serve the Hebrews, as they served you, etc.” Likewise, above in this portion (10:7): “And all the men of Israel saw, etc. and they abandoned their cities and fled, and the Philistines came and settled in them.” And in those seven years that David reigned in Hebron alone they did not say a word, and they were not concerned that David reigned over Hebron, because they said, “What do we care? Perhaps a governor or an officer appointed David over Hebron.” But when he was anointed king over all Israel, the Philistines all went up to seek David, for they did not want there to be a king in Israel, but that they should continue ruling over them.
