2 Chroniques 16:14

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

16

2 וַיֹּצֵ֨א אָסָ֜א כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֗ב מֵאֹ֥צְר֛וֹת בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָ֖ה וּבֵ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֶל־בֶּן־הֲדַד֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם הַיּוֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּדַרְמֶ֖שֶׂק לֵאמֹֽר׃ Alors Asa sortit de l’argent et de l’or des trésors de la maison du Seigneur et de la maison du roi, et les envoya à Ben-Hadad, roi de Syrie, résidant à Damas, avec ces paroles:
7 וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֗יא בָּ֚א חֲנָ֣נִי הָרֹאֶ֔ה אֶל־אָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו בְּהִשָּׁ֨עֶנְךָ֜ עַל־מֶ֤לֶךְ אֲרָם֙ וְלֹ֤א נִשְׁעַ֙נְתָּ֙ עַל־יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ עַל־כֵּ֗ן נִמְלַ֛ט חֵ֥יל מֶלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃ A cette époque, Hanani le Voyant alla trouver Asa, roi de Juda, et lui dit: "Puisque tu t’es appuyé sur le roi de Syrie au lieu de t’appuyer sur l’Éternel, ton Dieu, l’armée du roi de Syrie s’est échappée de tes mains.
8 הֲלֹ֧א הַכּוּשִׁ֣ים וְהַלּוּבִ֗ים הָי֨וּ לְחַ֧יִל ׀ לָרֹ֛ב לְרֶ֥כֶב וּלְפָרָשִׁ֖ים לְהַרְבֵּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וּבְהִשָּׁעֶנְךָ֥ עַל־יְהֹוָ֖ה נְתָנָ֥ם בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ Assurément, les Ethiopiens et les Libyens formaient une armée considérable, disposant de chars et de cavaliers extrêmement nombreux, et parce que tu as cherché ton appui en l’Éternel, il les a livrés en ton pouvoir.
14 וַיִּקְבְּרֻ֣הוּ בְקִבְרֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרָה־לוֹ֮ בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִיד֒ וַיַּשְׁכִּיבֻ֗הוּ בַּמִּשְׁכָּב֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּא֙ בְּשָׂמִ֣ים וּזְנִ֔ים מְרֻקָּחִ֖ים בְּמִרְקַ֣חַת מַעֲשֶׂ֑ה וַיִּשְׂרְפוּ־ל֥וֹ שְׂרֵפָ֖ה גְּדוֹלָ֥ה עַד־לִמְאֹֽד׃ {פ}

and divers kinds These are kinds of spices, and the spices were prepared with the perfumer’s art, a mixture. The meaning is: prepared with the perfumer’s art.

and they kindled an exceedingly great fire They burned good spices for him into ashes, and they scattered those ashes on him. Others explain this like (Abodah Zarah 11a): “We may burn for the kings.” Now what did they burn? Their biers and the utensils they used.
