15

1 וַיְהִ֣י הַגּוֹרָ֗ל לְמַטֵּ֛ה בְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם אֶל־גְּב֨וּל אֱד֧וֹם מִדְבַּר־צִ֛ן נֶ֖גְבָּה מִקְצֵ֥ה תֵימָֽן׃ Le lot qui échut à la tribu des enfants de Juda, selon leurs familles, touchait à la frontière d’Edom, près du désert de Cîn au midi, au point extréme de cette région.

2 וַיְהִ֤י לָהֶם֙ גְּב֣וּל נֶ֔גֶב מִקְצֵ֖ה יָ֣ם הַמֶּ֑לַח מִן־הַלָּשֹׁ֖ן הַפֹּנֶ֥ה נֶֽגְבָּה׃ Leur limite méridionale commençait à l’extrémité de la mer Salée, à la pointe qui regarde le sud,

3 וְ֠יָצָ֠א אֶל־מִנֶּ֜גֶב לְמַעֲלֵ֤ה עַקְרַבִּים֙ וְעָ֣בַר צִ֔נָה וְעָלָ֥ה מִנֶּ֖גֶב לְקָדֵ֣שׁ בַּרְנֵ֑עַ וְעָבַ֤ר חֶצְרוֹן֙ וְעָלָ֣ה אַדָּ֔רָה וְנָסַ֖ב הַקַּרְקָֽעָה׃ se continuait au sud de la montée d’Akrabbîm en passant par Cîn, montait au sud de Kadêch-Barnéa en avant de Héçrôn, de là vers Addar, d’où elle tournait vers Karka;

4 וְעָבַ֣ר עַצְמ֗וֹנָה וְיָצָא֙ נַ֣חַל מִצְרַ֔יִם (והיה) [וְהָי֛וּ] תֹּצְא֥וֹת הַגְּב֖וּל יָ֑מָּה זֶה־יִֽהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם גְּב֥וּל נֶֽגֶב׃ passait par Açmôn, aboutissait au torrent d’Égypte et avait pour limite la mer: "Telle sera pour vous la frontière méridionale."

5 וּגְב֥וּל קֵ֙דְמָה֙ יָ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לַח עַד־קְצֵ֖ה הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן וּגְב֞וּל לִפְאַ֤ת צָפ֙וֹנָה֙ מִלְּשׁ֣וֹן הַיָּ֔ם מִקְצֵ֖ה הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃ Celle de l’orient est la mer Salée, jusqu’à l’embouchure du Jourdain; celle du côté du nord part de la langue de mer où se termine le Jourdain.

6 וְעָלָ֤ה הַגְּבוּל֙ בֵּ֣ית חׇגְלָ֔ה וְעָבַ֕ר מִצְּפ֖וֹן לְבֵ֣ית הָעֲרָבָ֑ה וְעָלָ֣ה הַגְּב֔וּל אֶ֥בֶן בֹּ֖הַן בֶּן־רְאוּבֵֽן׃ Cette limite monte vers Beth-Hogla, passe au nord de Beth-Haaraba, monte vers la Pierre de Bohân ben-Ruben;

7 וְעָלָ֨ה הַגְּב֥וּל ׀ דְּבִ֘רָה֮ מֵעֵ֣מֶק עָכוֹר֒ וְצָפ֜וֹנָה פֹּנֶ֣ה אֶל־הַגִּלְגָּ֗ל אֲשֶׁר־נֹ֙כַח֙ לְמַעֲלֵ֣ה אֲדֻמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִנֶּ֖גֶב לַנָּ֑חַל וְעָבַ֤ר הַגְּבוּל֙ אֶל־מֵי־עֵ֣ין שֶׁ֔מֶשׁ וְהָי֥וּ תֹצְאֹתָ֖יו אֶל־עֵ֥ין רֹגֵֽל׃ arrive à Debir en partant de la vallée d’Akhor; se dirige, par le nord, vers Ghilgal, en face de la montée d’Adoummîm, au midi du bas-fonds; avance jusqu’aux eaux d’En-Chémech et atteint En-Roghel.

8 וְעָלָ֨ה הַגְּב֜וּל גֵּ֣י בֶן־הִנֹּ֗ם אֶל־כֶּ֤תֶף הַיְבוּסִי֙ מִנֶּ֔גֶב הִ֖יא יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וְעָלָ֨ה הַגְּב֜וּל אֶל־רֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֗ר אֲ֠שֶׁ֠ר עַל־פְּנֵ֤י גֵֽי־הִנֹּם֙ יָ֔מָּה אֲשֶׁ֛ר בִּקְצֵ֥ה עֵמֶק־רְפָאִ֖ים צָפֽוֹנָה׃ De là, elle monte vers la vallée de Ben-Hinnom, au flanc méridional de Jébus, qui est Jérusalem, court au sommet de la montagne qui regarde, à l’ouest, la vallée de Hinnom, et qui borne, au nord, la vallée de Rephaïm.

9 וְתָאַ֨ר הַגְּב֜וּל מֵרֹ֣אשׁ הָהָ֗ר אֶל־מַעְיַן֙ מֵ֣י נֶפְתּ֔וֹחַ וְיָצָ֖א אֶל־עָרֵ֣י הַר־עֶפְר֑וֹן וְתָאַ֤ר הַגְּבוּל֙ בַּעֲלָ֔ה הִ֖יא קִרְיַ֥ת יְעָרִֽים׃ Du sommet de la montagne, la limite s’infléchit vers la source de Mê-Neftoah, se dirige vers les villes de la montagne d’Efrôn, tourne vers Baala, qui est Kiryath-Yearim,

10 וְנָסַב֩ הַגְּב֨וּל מִבַּעֲלָ֥ה יָ֙מָּה֙ אֶל־הַ֣ר שֵׂעִ֔יר וְעָבַ֞ר אֶל־כֶּ֧תֶף הַר־יְעָרִ֛ים מִצָּפ֖וֹנָה הִ֣יא כְסָל֑וֹן וְיָרַ֥ד בֵּֽית־שֶׁ֖מֶשׁ וְעָבַ֥ר תִּמְנָֽה׃ passe de Baala à l’ouest, vers le mont Séir, de là, au flanc nord du mont Yearim, qui est Kessalôn, descend vers Beth-Chéméch, de là à Timna;

11 וְיָצָ֨א הַגְּב֜וּל אֶל־כֶּ֣תֶף עֶקְרוֹן֮ צָפ֒וֹנָה֒ וְתָאַ֤ר הַגְּבוּל֙ שִׁכְּר֔וֹנָה וְעָבַ֥ר הַר־הַֽבַּעֲלָ֖ה וְיָצָ֣א יַבְנְאֵ֑ל וְהָי֛וּ תֹּצְא֥וֹת הַגְּב֖וּל יָֽמָּה׃ de là, elle gagne le côté nord d’Ekron, s’infléchit vers Chikkerôn, vers la montagne de Baala, vers Yabneêl, et se termine à la mer.

12 וּגְב֣וּל יָ֔ם הַיָּ֥מָּה הַגָּד֖וֹל וּגְב֑וּל זֶ֠ה גְּב֧וּל בְּנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֛ה סָבִ֖יב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ Pour la limite occidentale, elle est formée par la grande Mer. Telle fut, dans son périmètre, la frontière des enfants de Juda, selon leurs familles.

13 וּלְכָלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֗ה נָ֤תַן חֵ֙לֶק֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ בְּנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶל־פִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה לִיהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ אֶת־קִרְיַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֛ע אֲבִ֥י הָעֲנָ֖ק הִ֥יא חֶבְרֽוֹן׃ Caleb, fils de Yefounné, obtint une part parmi les enfants de Juda, selon la parole de l’Éternel à Josué, savoir la Cité d’Arba, empire des Anakéens, aujourd’hui Hébron.

14 וַיֹּ֤רֶשׁ מִשָּׁם֙ כָּלֵ֔ב אֶת־שְׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה בְּנֵ֣י הָעֲנָ֑ק אֶת־שֵׁשַׁ֤י וְאֶת־אֲחִימַן֙ וְאֶת־תַּלְמַ֔י יְלִידֵ֖י הָעֲנָֽק׃ Caleb en expulsa les trois fils d’Anak: Chêchaï, Ahimân et Talmaï, tous enfants d’Anak.

15 וַיַּ֣עַל מִשָּׁ֔ם אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵ֖י דְּבִ֑ר וְשֵׁם־דְּבִ֥ר לְפָנִ֖ים קִרְיַת־סֵֽפֶר׃ De là, il s’avança contre les habitants de Debir, laquelle s’appelait autrefois Kiryath-Sêfer.

16 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר כָּלֵ֔ב אֲשֶׁר־יַכֶּ֥ה אֶת־קִרְיַת־סֵ֖פֶר וּלְכָדָ֑הּ וְנָתַ֥תִּי ל֛וֹ אֶת־עַכְסָ֥ה בִתִּ֖י לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ Et Caleb dit: "Celui qui vaincra Kiryath-Sêfer et s’en rendra maître, je lui donnerai ma fille Akhsa pour femme."

17 וַֽיִּלְכְּדָ֛הּ עׇתְנִיאֵ֥ל בֶּן־קְנַ֖ז אֲחִ֣י כָלֵ֑ב וַיִּתֶּן־ל֛וֹ אֶת־עַכְסָ֥ה בִתּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ Othoniel, fils de Kenaz, frère de Caleb, s’empara de la ville, et celui-ci lui donna pour femme sa fille Akhsa.

18 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בְּבוֹאָ֗הּ וַתְּסִיתֵ֙הוּ֙ לִשְׁא֤וֹל מֵאֵת־אָבִ֙יהָ֙ שָׂדֶ֔ה וַתִּצְנַ֖ח מֵעַ֣ל הַחֲמ֑וֹר וַיֹּֽאמֶר־לָ֥הּ כָּלֵ֖ב מַה־לָּֽךְ׃ En se rendant près de son époux, elle l’excita à demander à son père un certain champ; puis elle descendit de l’âne, et Caleb lui demanda: "Que veux-tu?"

19 וַתֹּ֜אמֶר תְּנָה־לִּ֣י בְרָכָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֶ֤רֶץ הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ נְתַתָּ֔נִי וְנָתַתָּ֥ה לִ֖י גֻּלֹּ֣ת מָ֑יִם וַיִּתֶּן־לָ֗הּ אֵ֚ת גֻּלֹּ֣ת עִלִּיּ֔וֹת וְאֵ֖ת גֻּלֹּ֥ת תַּחְתִּיּֽוֹת׃ {פ}
Elle répondit: "Fais-moi un présent, car tu m’as reléguée dans une contrée aride; donne-moi donc des sources d’eau!" Et il lui donna les sources supérieures et les sources inférieures.

20 זֹ֗את נַחֲלַ֛ת מַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֖ה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ Tel fut le patrimoine de la tribu des enfants de Juda, selon leurs familles.

21 וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ הֶֽעָרִ֗ים מִקְצֵה֙ לְמַטֵּ֣ה בְנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶל־גְּב֥וּל אֱד֖וֹם בַּנֶּ֑גְבָּה קַבְצְאֵ֥ל וְעֵ֖דֶר וְיָגֽוּר׃ Les villes de cette tribu qui se trouvaient à l’extrémité méridionale, vers la frontière d’Edom furent les suivantes: Kabceêl, Eder, Yagour;

22 וְקִינָ֥ה וְדִימוֹנָ֖ה וְעַדְעָדָֽה׃ Kina, Dimona, Adada;

23 וְקֶ֥דֶשׁ וְחָצ֖וֹר וְיִתְנָֽן׃ Kédech, Haçor, Yithnân;

24 זִ֥יף וָטֶ֖לֶם וּבְעָלֽוֹת׃ Ziph, Télem, Bealoth;

25 וְחָצ֤וֹר ׀ חֲדַתָּה֙ וּקְרִיּ֔וֹת חֶצְר֖וֹן הִ֥יא חָצֽוֹר׃ Haçor-Hadatta, Keriyoth, Héçrôn, autrement Haçor;

26 אֲמָ֥ם וּשְׁמַ֖ע וּמוֹלָדָֽה׃ Amâm, Chema, Molada;

27 וַחֲצַ֥ר גַּדָּ֛ה וְחֶשְׁמ֖וֹן וּבֵ֥ית פָּֽלֶט׃ Haçor-Gadda, Héchmôn, Beth-Pélet;

28 וַחֲצַ֥ר שׁוּעָ֛ל וּבְאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֖בַע וּבִזְיוֹתְיָֽה׃ Haçor-Choual, Bersabée, Bizyothya;

29 בַּעֲלָ֥ה וְעִיִּ֖ים וָעָֽצֶם׃ Baala, Iyyim, Ecem;

30 וְאֶלְתּוֹלַ֥ד וּכְסִ֖יל וְחׇרְמָֽה׃ Eltolad, Kecil, Horma;

31 וְצִֽקְלַ֥ג וּמַדְמַנָּ֖ה וְסַנְסַנָּֽה׃ Ciklag, Madmanna, Sansanna;

32 וּלְבָא֥וֹת וְשִׁלְחִ֖ים וְעַ֣יִן וְרִמּ֑וֹן כׇּל־עָרִ֛ים עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וָתֵ֖שַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Lebaoth, Chilhîm, Ayîn et Rimmôn: ensemble vingt-neuf villes avec leurs dépendances.

33 בַּשְּׁפֵלָ֑ה אֶשְׁתָּא֥וֹל וְצׇרְעָ֖ה וְאַשְׁנָֽה׃ Dans la plaine: Echtaol, Çorea, Achna;

34 וְזָנ֙וֹחַ֙ וְעֵ֣ין גַּנִּ֔ים תַּפּ֖וּחַ וְהָעֵינָֽם׃ Zanoah, En-Gannim, Tappouah, Enam;

35 יַרְמוּת֙ וַֽעֲדֻלָּ֔ם שׂוֹכֹ֖ה וַעֲזֵקָֽה׃ Yarmouth, Adoullam, Sokho, Azêka;

36 וְשַׁעֲרַ֙יִם֙ וַֽעֲדִיתַ֔יִם וְהַגְּדֵרָ֖ה וּגְדֵרֹתָ֑יִם עָרִ֥ים אַרְבַּֽע־עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Chaaraïm, Adithaïm, Ghedêra avec Ghedêrothaïm: quatorze villes avec leurs dépendances.

37 צְנָ֥ן וַחֲדָשָׁ֖ה וּמִגְדַּל־גָּֽד׃ Cenân, Hadacha, Migdal-Gad

38 וְדִלְעָ֥ן וְהַמִּצְפֶּ֖ה וְיׇקְתְאֵֽל׃ Dileân, Miçpé, Yokteêl;

39 לָכִ֥ישׁ וּבׇצְקַ֖ת וְעֶגְלֽוֹן׃ Lakhich, Boçkath, Eglôn;

40 וְכַבּ֥וֹן וְלַחְמָ֖ס וְכִתְלִֽישׁ׃ Kabbôn, Lahmâs, Kithlich;

41 וּגְדֵר֕וֹת בֵּית־דָּג֥וֹן וְנַעֲמָ֖ה וּמַקֵּדָ֑ה עָרִ֥ים שֵׁשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Ghedérot, Beth-Dagon, Naama et Makkêda: seize villes avec leurs dépendances.

42 לִבְנָ֥ה וָעֶ֖תֶר וְעָשָֽׁן׃ Libna, Ether, Achân

43 וְיִפְתָּ֥ח וְאַשְׁנָ֖ה וּנְצִֽיב׃ Yiphtah, Achna, Necib;

44 וּקְעִילָ֥ה וְאַכְזִ֖יב וּמָֽרֵאשָׁ֑ה עָרִ֥ים תֵּ֖שַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Keïla, Akhzib et Marêcha: neuf villes, outre leurs dépendances.

45 עֶקְר֥וֹן וּבְנֹתֶ֖יהָ וַחֲצֵרֶֽיהָ׃ Ekron, avec les villes et bourgades qui en dépendent,

46 מֵעֶקְר֖וֹן וָיָ֑מָּה כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־עַל־יַ֥ד אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} d’Ekron jusqu’à la mer, toutes les villes avoisinant Asdod, avec leurs dépendances;

47 אַשְׁדּ֞וֹד בְּנוֹתֶ֣יהָ וַחֲצֵרֶ֗יהָ עַזָּ֛ה בְּנוֹתֶ֥יהָ וַחֲצֵרֶ֖יהָ עַד־נַ֣חַל מִצְרָ֑יִם וְהַיָּ֥ם (הגבול) [הַגָּד֖וֹל] וּגְבֽוּל׃ {ס} Asdod, avec ses villes et ses bourgades; Gaza, avec les siennes, jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte, la grande mer servant de limite.

48 וּבָהָ֑ר שָׁמִ֥יר וְיַתִּ֖יר וְשׂוֹכֹֽה׃ Dans la montagne: Chamir, Yathir, Sokho;

49 וְדַנָּ֥ה וְקִרְיַת־סַנָּ֖ה הִ֥יא דְבִֽר׃ {ס} Danna, Kiryath-Sanna, autrement Debir;

50 וַעֲנָ֥ב וְאֶשְׁתְּמֹ֖ה וְעָנִֽים׃ Anab, Echtemo, Anîm

51 וְגֹ֥שֶׁן וְחֹלֹ֖ן וְגִלֹ֑ה עָרִ֥ים אַחַת־עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Gochên, Holôn et Ghilo: onze villes, outre leurs dépendances.

52 אֲרַ֥ב וְרוּמָ֖ה וְאֶשְׁעָֽן׃ Arab, Douma, Echeân;

53 (וינים) [וְיָנ֥וּם] וּבֵית־תַּפּ֖וּחַ וַאֲפֵֽקָה׃ Yanoum, Beth-Tappouah, Aphêka;

54 וְחֻמְטָ֗ה וְקִרְיַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֛ע הִ֥יא חֶבְר֖וֹן וְצִיעֹ֑ר עָרִ֥ים תֵּ֖שַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Houmta, Kiryath-Arba ou Hébron, et Cior: neuf villes, plus leurs dépendances.

55 מָע֥וֹן ׀ כַּרְמֶ֖ל וָזִ֥יף וְיוּטָּֽה׃ Maôn, Carmel, Ziph, Youta;

56 וְיִזְרְעֶ֥אל וְיׇקְדְעָ֖ם וְזָנֽוֹחַ׃ Jezreêl, Yokdeâm, Zanoah;

57 הַקַּ֖יִן גִּבְעָ֣ה וְתִמְנָ֑ה עָרִ֥ים עֶ֖שֶׂר וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Kaïn, Ghibea et Timna: dix villes avec leurs dépendances.

58 חַלְח֥וּל בֵּֽית־צ֖וּר וּגְדֽוֹר׃ Halhoul, Beth-Çour, Ghedor;

59 וּמַעֲרָ֥ת וּבֵית־עֲנ֖וֹת וְאֶלְתְּקֹ֑ן עָרִ֥ים שֵׁ֖שׁ וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {פ}
Marath, Beth-Anoth et Eltekôn: six villes avec leurs dépendances.

60 קִרְיַת־בַּ֗עַל הִ֛יא קִרְיַ֥ת יְעָרִ֖ים וְהָרַבָּ֑ה עָרִ֥ים שְׁתַּ֖יִם וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ {ס} Kiryath-Baal (la même que Kiryath-Yearim) et Harabba: deux villes, outre leurs dépendances.

61 בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר בֵּ֚ית הָעֲרָבָ֔ה מִדִּ֖ין וּסְכָכָֽה׃ Dans le désert: Beth ha-Araba, Middïn, Sekhakha;

62 וְהַנִּבְשָׁ֥ן וְעִיר־הַמֶּ֖לַח וְעֵ֣ין גֶּ֑דִי עָרִ֥ים שֵׁ֖שׁ וְחַצְרֵיהֶֽן׃ Nibchân, Ir-Hammélah et En-Ghedi: six villes avec leurs dépendances.

63 וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִי֙ יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם לֹא־[יָכְל֥וּ] (יוכלו) בְנֵי־יְהוּדָ֖ה לְהוֹרִישָׁ֑ם וַיֵּ֨שֶׁב הַיְבוּסִ֜י אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יְהוּדָה֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ {פ}
Quant aux Jébuséens, qui habitaient Jérusalem, les enfants de Juda ne purent les déposséder; de sorte qu’ils sont demeurés à Jérusalem, avec les enfants de Juda, jusqu’à ce jour.

The eastern boundary. Referring to the boundary line that stretches along the eastern border of Yehudah.

The Salt (Dead) Sea. It is located at the south eastern corner of the land, as stated in Parshas אֵלֶה מַסְעֵי

To the end of the Jordan. The width of the boundary of Yehudah is only that which is opposite the Dead Sea to the place where the Jordan empties into the Dead Sea, for the Jordan itself is also on the eastern border of the land of Canaan, as stated in Parshas אֵלֶה מַסְעֵי regarding the eastern border. The boundary descended to the Jordan and it extended to the Dead Sea, which is at the corner.

And the boundary of the north side. The border line stretching along the northern border from east to west goes from the bay of the Dead Sea, from the place where the Jordan empties into it, as we have said that the width of the eastern boundary ends there; and it goes up westward to Beis Chogloh, and then the boundary line passes to the north of Beis HaArovoh which is the south of Eretz Yisroel. Beis HaArovo therefore is included in the boundary of Yehudah within the boundary line.
