1 לֹ֤א לָ֥נוּ יְהֹוָ֗ה לֹ֫א־לָ֥נוּ כִּֽי־לְ֭שִׁמְךָ תֵּ֣ן כָּב֑וֹד עַל־חַ֝סְדְּךָ֗ עַל־אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ Non pour nous, Éternel, non pour nous, mais pour faire honneur à ton nom, [donne cours] à ta bonté et à ta bienveillance.

2 לָ֭מָּה יֹאמְר֣וּ הַגּוֹיִ֑ם אַיֵּה־נָ֝֗א אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ Pourquoi les peuples diraient-ils: "Où donc est leur Dieu?"

3 וֵאלֹהֵ֥ינוּ בַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־חָפֵ֣ץ עָשָֽׂה׃ Or notre Dieu est dans les cieux, il accomplit toutes ses volontés.

4 עֲֽ֭צַבֵּיהֶם כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֑ב מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗ה יְדֵ֣י אָדָֽם׃ Leurs idoles sont d’argent et d’or, œuvre de mains humaines.

5 פֶּֽה־לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ עֵינַ֥יִם לָ֝הֶ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֽוּ׃ Elles ont une bouche et ne parlent point, des yeux, et elles ne voient pas;

6 אׇזְנַ֣יִם לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ אַ֥ף לָ֝הֶ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יְרִיחֽוּן׃ elles ont des oreilles et elles n’entendent pas, des narines, et elles n’ont point d’odorat.

7 יְדֵיהֶ֤ם ׀ וְלֹ֬א יְמִישׁ֗וּן רַ֭גְלֵיהֶם וְלֹ֣א יְהַלֵּ֑כוּ לֹא־יֶ֝הְגּ֗וּ בִּגְרוֹנָֽם׃ Malgré leurs mains, elles n’ont pas le sens du toucher, malgré leurs pieds, elles ne sauraient marcher; aucun son ne s’échappe de leur gosier.

8 כְּ֭מוֹהֶם יִהְי֣וּ עֹשֵׂיהֶ֑ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־בֹּטֵ֣חַ בָּהֶֽם׃ Puissent leur ressembler ceux qui les confectionnent, tous ceux qui leur témoignent de la confiance!

9 יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל בְּטַ֣ח בַּיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃ Israël, confie-toi à Dieu! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

10 בֵּ֣ית אַ֭הֲרֹן בִּטְח֣וּ בַיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃ Maison d’Aaron, confie-toi à Dieu! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

11 יִרְאֵ֣י יְ֭הֹוָה בִּטְח֣וּ בַיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃ Vous, adorateurs de l’Éternel, confiez-vous à lui! Il est leur aide et leur bouclier.

12 יְהֹוָה֮ זְכָרָ֢נוּ יְבָ֫רֵ֥ךְ יְ֭בָרֵךְ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְ֝בָרֵ֗ךְ אֶת־בֵּ֥ית אַהֲרֹֽן׃ L’Éternel se souvient de nous pour nous bénir; qu’il bénisse la maison d’Israël, qu’il bénisse la maison d’Aaron!

13 יְ֭בָרֵךְ יִרְאֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה הַ֝קְּטַנִּ֗ים עִם־הַגְּדֹלִֽים׃ Qu’il bénisse ceux qui le révèrent, les petits ainsi que les grands!

14 יֹסֵ֣ף יְהֹוָ֣ה עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם וְעַל־בְּנֵיכֶֽם׃ Que l’Éternel multiplie [ses bontés] pour vous, pour vous et pour vos enfants!

15 בְּרוּכִ֣ים אַ֭תֶּם לַיהֹוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃ Soyez bénis par l’Éternel, qui a créé le ciel et la terre!

16 הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם שָׁ֭מַיִם לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְ֝הָאָ֗רֶץ נָתַ֥ן לִבְנֵי־אָדָֽם׃ Les cieux, oui, les cieux sont à l’Éternel, mais la terre, il l’a octroyée aux fils de l’homme.

17 לֹ֣א הַ֭מֵּתִים יְהַֽלְלוּ־יָ֑הּ וְ֝לֹ֗א כׇּל־יֹרְדֵ֥י דוּמָֽה׃ Ce ne sont pas les morts qui loueront le Seigneur, ni aucun de ceux qui sont descendus dans l’empire du silence,

18 וַאֲנַ֤חְנוּ ׀ נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ יָ֗הּ מֵעַתָּ֥ה וְעַד־עוֹלָ֗ם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
tandis que nous, nous bénissons l’Éternel, maintenant et à tout jamais. Alléluia!

השמים - אמר רבי משה: כי השמים כמו מקום. ואני כבר פירשתיו בספר השם, כי שמים על מתכונת שנים וגזרתו משם, בעבור שני מקומות בסדן שהם נטועים. וכן כתוב: לנטוע שמים וליסוד ארץ, וחסרי דעה חשבו כי ממשלת האדם בארץ כממשלת השם בשמים ולא דברו נכונה, כי מלכות השם בכל משלה רק פירוש נתן לבני האדם - שהאדם כמו פקיד אלהים בארץ, על כל מה שיש בה והכל בדבר השם.

השמים. אף על פי שהוא עשה השמים והארץ ממשלת השמי' לו לבדו ואין לאדם בהם דבר, אבל הארץ נתן ממשלתם לבני אדם וצריך שידעו בני אדם ויכירו כי הוא אדון והם פקידים עליה כאשר ירצה יעביר אותם מהפקידות ויתננו לאחרים כלומר שימית אלו ויוליד אחרים, ומי שיכיר שהוא אדון ויראהו כמו הפקיד, האדון יעמידהו בפקידות וישמרהו הזמן הקצוב לו לפיכך אמר אחריו לא המתים יהללו יה אותם שימית אותם האל יתברך טרם זמן הקצוב ימיתם בעונם שלא הכירוהו בחיים שהוא אדון ולא יראו מפניו, והנה ימותו ולא יהללו יה. כי תאבד נפשם במותם:
