1 שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת בְּשׁ֣וּב יְ֭הֹוָה אֶת־שִׁיבַ֣ת צִיּ֑וֹן הָ֝יִ֗ינוּ כְּחֹלְמִֽים׃ Cantique des degrés. Quand l’Éternel ramena les captifs de Sion, nous étions comme des gens qui rêvent.

2 אָ֤ז יִמָּלֵ֪א שְׂח֡וֹק פִּינוּ֮ וּלְשׁוֹנֵ֢נוּ רִ֫נָּ֥ה אָ֭ז יֹאמְר֣וּ בַגּוֹיִ֑ם הִגְדִּ֥יל יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת עִם־אֵֽלֶּה׃ Alors notre bouche s’emplit de chants joyeux et notre langue d’accents d’allégresse.

3 הִגְדִּ֣יל יְ֭הֹוָה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת עִמָּ֗נוּ הָיִ֥ינוּ שְׂמֵחִֽים׃ Alors on s’écria parmi les peuples: "Le Seigneur a fait de grandes choses pour ces gens!" Oui, l’Éternel a fait de grandes choses à notre égard, profonde est notre joie.

4 שׁוּבָ֣ה יְ֭הֹוָה אֶת־[שְׁבִיתֵ֑נוּ] (שבותנו) כַּאֲפִיקִ֥ים בַּנֶּֽגֶב׃ Ramène nos captifs, ô Éternel, comme [tu ramènes] des ruisseaux dans le désert du Midi.

5 הַזֹּרְעִ֥ים בְּדִמְעָ֗ה בְּרִנָּ֥ה יִקְצֹֽרוּ׃ Ceux qui ont semé dans les larmes, puissent-ils récolter dans la joie!

6 הָ֘ל֤וֹךְ יֵלֵ֨ךְ ׀ וּבָכֹה֮ נֹשֵׂ֢א מֶשֶׁךְ־הַ֫זָּ֥רַע בֹּא־יָבֹ֥א בְרִנָּ֑ה נֹ֝שֵׂ֗א אֲלֻמֹּתָֽיו׃ {פ}
C’est en pleurant que s’en va celui qui porte les grains pour les lancer à la volée, mais il revient avec des transports de joie, pliant sous le poids de ses gerbes.

משך הזרע. פירוש יקר הזרע ונקרא הדבר היקר משך לפי ששמו נמשך מרחוק והזרע יקר בארץ הנגב והעני הנושא אותו הולך ובוכה מפחדו שמא יאחר ולא יצמח מפני יבשות הארץ, והאל יתברך רואה דמעיו ומרחם עליו וממטיר על הארץ ובעת הקציר יבא אל ביתו ברינה תחת אשר היה הולך ובוכה בעת הזרע וישא ברינה אלומות קצירו אל ביתו, כי ישראל בגלות סובלי עול הגלות ונושאי משא לקיים התורה והמצות שהוא הזרע במשל, ובעת הגאולה שהוא עת הקציר יבואו אל ארץ ישראל ברינה ישאו אלומות הטובות שייטיב עמהם האל יתברך ויהיה להם גמול טוב:
