1 מִזְמ֗וֹר לְדָ֫וִ֥ד יְהֹוָ֤ה ׀ שְׁמַ֬ע תְּפִלָּתִ֗י הַאֲזִ֥ינָה אֶל־תַּחֲנוּנַ֑י בֶּאֱמֻנָתְךָ֥ עֲ֝נֵ֗נִי בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃ Psaume de David. Seigneur, écoute ma prière, prête l’oreille à mes supplications, dans ta fidélité réponds-moi, et dans ta bienveillance:

2 וְאַל־תָּב֣וֹא בְ֭מִשְׁפָּט אֶת־עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֤י לֹֽא־יִצְדַּ֖ק לְפָנֶ֣יךָ כׇל־חָֽי׃ n’entre pas en jugement avec ton serviteur, car nul vivant ne peut se trouver juste à tes yeux.

3 כִּ֥י רָ֘דַ֤ף אוֹיֵ֨ב ׀ נַפְשִׁ֗י דִּכָּ֣א לָ֭אָרֶץ חַיָּתִ֑י הוֹשִׁבַ֥נִי בְ֝מַחֲשַׁכִּ֗ים כְּמֵתֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃ C’est que l’ennemi s’est jeté à ma poursuite, a broyé ma vie sur le sol, me plongeant dans les ténèbres, comme ceux qui, dès longtemps, appartiennent à la mort.

4 וַתִּתְעַטֵּ֣ף עָלַ֣י רוּחִ֑י בְּ֝תוֹכִ֗י יִשְׁתּוֹמֵ֥ם לִבִּֽי׃ Mon esprit tombe en défaillance en moi, en mon sein mon cœur est frappé de stupeur.

5 זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי יָמִ֨ים ׀ מִקֶּ֗דֶם הָגִ֥יתִי בְכׇל־פׇּעֳלֶ֑ךָ בְּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה יָדֶ֣יךָ אֲשׂוֹחֵֽחַ׃ J’évoque le souvenir des jours antiques, je pense à l’ensemble de tes actes, et médite sur l’œuvre de tes mains.

6 פֵּרַ֣שְׂתִּי יָדַ֣י אֵלֶ֑יךָ נַפְשִׁ֓י ׀ כְּאֶרֶץ־עֲיֵפָ֖ה לְךָ֣ סֶֽלָה׃ Je tends les mains vers toi; mon âme, telle une terre aride, [a soif] de toi. Sélah!

7 מַ֘הֵ֤ר עֲנֵ֨נִי ׀ יְהֹוָה֮ כָּלְתָ֢ה ר֫וּחִ֥י אַל־תַּסְתֵּ֣ר פָּנֶ֣יךָ מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְ֝נִמְשַׁ֗לְתִּי עִם־יֹ֥רְדֵי בֽוֹר׃ Sans retard exauce-moi, ô Seigneur, mon esprit se consume; ne me dérobe point ta face, sinon je ressemblerai à ceux qui descendent dans la tombe.

8 הַשְׁמִ֘יעֵ֤נִי בַבֹּ֨קֶר ׀ חַסְדֶּךָ֮ כִּֽי־בְךָ֢ בָ֫טָ֥חְתִּי הוֹדִיעֵ֗נִי דֶּרֶךְ־ז֥וּ אֵלֵ֑ךְ כִּי־אֵ֝לֶ֗יךָ נָשָׂ֥אתִי נַפְשִֽׁי׃ Dès le matin, annonce-moi ta grâce, car j’ai mis confiance en toi; fais-moi connaître le chemin que je dois suivre, car vers toi j’élève mon âme.

9 הַצִּילֵ֖נִי מֵאֹיְבַ֥י ׀ יְהֹוָ֗ה אֵלֶ֥יךָ כִסִּֽתִי׃ Délivre-moi de mes ennemis, Éternel, c’est en toi que je cherche un abri,

10 לַמְּדֵ֤נִי ׀ לַ֥עֲשׂ֣וֹת רְצוֹנֶךָ֮ כִּֽי־אַתָּ֢ה אֱל֫וֹהָ֥י רוּחֲךָ֥ טוֹבָ֑ה תַּ֝נְחֵ֗נִי בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִישֽׁוֹר׃ Enseigne-moi à accomplir ta volonté, car c’est toi qui es mon Dieu; que ton esprit bienveillant me guide sur un sol uni!

11 לְמַעַן־שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהֹוָ֣ה תְּחַיֵּ֑נִי בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֓ ׀ תּוֹצִ֖יא מִצָּרָ֣ה נַפְשִֽׁי׃ En faveur de ton nom, Éternel, tu me conserveras en vie; dans ta justice, tu libéreras mon âme de la détresse.

12 וּֽבְחַסְדְּךָ֮ תַּצְמִ֢ית אֹ֫יְבָ֥י וְֽ֭הַאֲבַדְתָּ כׇּל־צֹרְרֵ֣י נַפְשִׁ֑י כִּ֝֗י אֲנִ֣י עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ {פ}
Dans ta bonté, tu anéantiras mes ennemis, tu feras périr tous ceux qui me sont hostiles, car je suis ton serviteur.

is appalled Heb. ישתומם, an expression of daze and astonishment, like (Ezek. 3:15): “and I remained there overwhelmed (משמים) among them seven days.” Also (II Sam. 13:20): “and Tamar sat, overwhelmed (ושוממה).”
