1 לְדָוִ֗ד מַ֫שְׂכִּ֥יל אַשְׁרֵ֥י נְֽשׂוּי־פֶּ֗שַׁע כְּס֣וּי חֲטָאָֽה׃ De David. Maskîl. Heureux celui dont les fautes sont remises, dont les péchés sont couverts [par le pardon]!

2 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי־אָדָ֗ם לֹ֤א יַחְשֹׁ֬ב יְהֹוָ֣ה ל֣וֹ עָוֺ֑ן וְאֵ֖ין בְּרוּח֣וֹ רְמִיָּֽה׃ Heureux l’homme à qui l’Éternel n’impute pas d’iniquité, et qui n’a point d’astuce dans l’esprit!

3 כִּֽי־הֶ֭חֱרַשְׁתִּי בָּל֣וּ עֲצָמָ֑י בְּ֝שַׁאֲגָתִ֗י כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ Tant que je gardais le silence, mes membres dépérissaient par mes plaintes tout le long de la journée.

4 כִּ֤י ׀ יוֹמָ֣ם וָלַיְלָה֮ תִּכְבַּ֥ד עָלַ֗י יָ֫דֶ֥ךָ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ לְשַׁדִּ֑י בְּחַרְבֹ֖נֵי קַ֣יִץ סֶֽלָה׃ C’est que jour et nuit ta main pesait sur moi: ma sève s’altérait [comme] aux feux de l’été. Sélah!

5 חַטָּאתִ֨י אוֹדִ֪יעֲךָ֡ וַעֲ֘וֺנִ֤י לֹֽא־כִסִּ֗יתִי אָמַ֗רְתִּי אוֹדֶ֤ה עֲלֵ֣י פְ֭שָׁעַי לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְאַתָּ֨ה נָ֘שָׂ֤אתָ עֲוֺ֖ן חַטָּאתִ֣י סֶֽלָה׃ [Maintenant] je te fais l’aveu de mon péché, et je ne dissimule pas mon iniquité. J’ai dit: "Je confesserai mes transgressions au Seigneur", et toi, tu fais disparaître la gravité de ma faute. Sélah!

6 עַל־זֹ֡את יִתְפַּלֵּ֬ל כׇּל־חָסִ֨יד ׀ אֵלֶיךָ֮ לְעֵ֢ת מְ֫צֹ֥א רַ֗ק לְ֭שֵׁטֶף מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים אֵ֝לָ֗יו לֹ֣א יַגִּֽיעוּ׃ C’est pourquoi tout homme pieux doit t’implorer à l’heure qui est propice, ne serait-ce que pour que la violence des grandes eaux ne vienne pas l’atteindre.

7 אַתָּ֤ה ׀ סֵ֥תֶר לִי֮ מִצַּ֢ר תִּ֫צְּרֵ֥נִי רׇנֵּ֥י פַלֵּ֑ט תְּס֖וֹבְבֵ֣נִי סֶֽלָה׃ C’est toi qui es mon abri! Tu me protèges contre l’adversité, tu m’environnes de chants de délivrance. Sélah!

8 אַשְׂכִּֽילְךָ֨ ׀ וְֽאוֹרְךָ֗ בְּדֶֽרֶךְ־ז֥וּ תֵלֵ֑ךְ אִיעֲצָ֖ה עָלֶ֣יךָ עֵינִֽי׃ "Je te donnerai la sagesse, je te guiderai dans la voie que tu dois suivre; j’aurai les yeux fixés sur toi."

9 אַל־תִּהְי֤וּ ׀ כְּס֥וּס כְּפֶרֶד֮ אֵ֤ין הָ֫בִ֥ין בְּמֶתֶג־וָרֶ֣סֶן עֶדְי֣וֹ לִבְל֑וֹם בַּ֝֗ל קְרֹ֣ב אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ Ne soyez pas comme le cheval, comme le mulet, auxquels manque l’intelligence, qu’il faut retenir par les rênes et le mors, leur parure qu’ils rongent pour qu’ils ne s’approchent pas de toi.

10 רַבִּ֥ים מַכְאוֹבִ֗ים לָ֫רָשָׁ֥ע וְהַבּוֹטֵ֥חַ בַּֽיהֹוָ֑ה חֶ֝֗סֶד יְסוֹבְבֶֽנּוּ׃ Nombreux sont les maux qui menacent le méchant; mais quiconque a confiance en l’Éternel se trouve environné de sa grâce.

11 שִׂמְח֬וּ בַיהֹוָ֣ה וְ֭גִילוּ צַדִּיקִ֑ים וְ֝הַרְנִ֗ינוּ כׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ {פ}
Réjouissez-vous en l’Éternel, soyez dans l’allégresse, ô justes, entonnez des chants de triomphe, vous tous, cœurs droits!

ויש אומרים: ואין ברוחו להיות כקשת רמיה. ועוד אפרשנו.

אשרי אדם לא יחשב יהוה לו עון עונו למאומה; כלומר: שנשאו בראותו יושר לבבו ששב אל יי' בכל לבו; וזהו שאמר:

ואין ברוחו רמיה: כי אין תשובתו במרמה כאומר: אחטא ואשוב (משנת יומא ח ט), או שיהיה במחשבתו שישוב ויחטא. ואמר דוד זה על עצמו שהיה דואג על עוניו ואמר: אשרי מי שידע שהאל נשא עונו. ואדני אבי, זכרו לברכה, פרש הענין הזה כן. אמר: כי זכר שלש מדרגות שהצדיקים הם בהן. והחל במדרגה התחתונה, והוא נשוי פשע: והוא שחטא והעוה ועבר עברות, ואחר כן חזר בתשובה שלמה ונסלח לו. כסוי חטאה: שיש לו זכיות וצדקות הרבה ואין לו כי אם חטא קטן והוא כסוי, ואינו נראה בתוך צדקותיו. דומה כמו גרעין דוחן בתוך סאה של חטאים שמתכסה הגרעינה בהם שאינה נראית. לא יחשוב יי' לו עון: זה שלא חטא כלל, ואפילו על לבו לא עלה; וזהו: ואין ברוחו רמיה. ואמר: כי הקדים תחלה נשוי פשע בעבור כי רב הצדיקים במדרגה הזאת, ומעוטם כסוי חטאה, והמעט מן המעט לא יחשב יי' לו עון.
