1 לַמְנַצֵּ֬חַ ׀ לְעֶבֶד־יְהֹוָ֬ה לְדָוִֽד׃ Au chef des chantres. Par le serviteur de l’Éternel, par David.

2 נְאֻֽם־פֶּ֣שַׁע לָ֭רָשָׁע בְּקֶ֣רֶב לִבִּ֑י אֵֽין־פַּ֥חַד אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים לְנֶ֣גֶד עֵינָֽיו׃ Au fond de mon cœur [je sens] ce que le Péché insinue au méchant: "Qu’il n’ait nulle crainte de Dieu devant les yeux!"

3 כִּֽי־הֶחֱלִ֣יק אֵלָ֣יו בְּעֵינָ֑יו לִמְצֹ֖א עֲוֺנ֣וֹ לִשְׂנֹֽא׃ Oui, il lui adresse des regards séducteurs, de façon à provoquer son iniquité, qu’il faudrait haïr.

4 דִּבְרֵי־פִ֭יו אָ֣וֶן וּמִרְמָ֑ה חָדַ֖ל לְהַשְׂכִּ֣יל לְהֵיטִֽיב׃ Les paroles de sa bouche ne sont que fausseté et perfidie, il renonce à être sage, à bien agir.

5 אָ֤וֶן ׀ יַחְשֹׁ֗ב עַֽל־מִשְׁכָּ֫ב֥וֹ יִ֭תְיַצֵּב עַל־דֶּ֣רֶךְ לֹא־ט֑וֹב רָ֝֗ע לֹ֣א יִמְאָֽס׃ Sur sa couche il machine la fraude; il s’engage sur un chemin qui n’est pas bon, il n’a pas l’horreur du mal.

6 יְ֭הֹוָה בְּהַשָּׁמַ֣יִם חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ אֱ֝מ֥וּנָתְךָ֗ עַד־שְׁחָקִֽים׃ Éternel, ta grâce atteint jusqu’aux cieux, ta fidélité jusqu’aux nues.

7 צִדְקָתְךָ֨ ׀ כְּֽהַרְרֵי־אֵ֗ל מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶיךָ תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֑ה אָ֤דָֽם־וּבְהֵמָ֖ה תוֹשִׁ֣יעַ יְהֹוָֽה׃ Ta justice est comme les montagnes puissantes, tes arrêts sont comme l’immense abîme: aux hommes et aux bêtes, tu es secourable, Éternel!

8 מַה־יָּקָ֥ר חַסְדְּךָ֗ אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים וּבְנֵ֥י אָדָ֑ם בְּצֵ֥ל כְּ֝נָפֶ֗יךָ יֶחֱסָיֽוּן׃ Combien précieuse est ta grâce, ô Dieu! Les fils de l’homme s’abritent à l’ombre de tes ailes.

9 יִ֭רְוְיֻן מִדֶּ֣שֶׁן בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ וְנַ֖חַל עֲדָנֶ֣יךָ תַשְׁקֵֽם׃ Ils sont rassasiés de l’abondance de ta maison; tu les abreuves du fleuve de tes délices.

10 כִּֽי־עִ֭מְּךָ מְק֣וֹר חַיִּ֑ים בְּ֝אוֹרְךָ֗ נִרְאֶה־אֽוֹר׃ Car près de toi est la source de vie; à ta lumière nous voyons le jour.

11 מְשֹׁ֣ךְ חַ֭סְדְּךָ לְיֹדְעֶ֑יךָ וְ֝צִדְקָתְךָ֗ לְיִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ Etends ta bonté sur ceux qui te connaissent, et ta bienveillance sur les cœurs droits.

12 אַל־תְּ֭בוֹאֵנִי רֶ֣גֶל גַּאֲוָ֑ה וְיַד־רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים אַל־תְּנִדֵֽנִי׃ Que le pied de l’orgueil ne m’atteigne point; que la main des méchants ne me mette point en fuite!

13 שָׁ֣ם נָ֭פְלוּ פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָ֑וֶן דֹּ֝ח֗וּ וְלֹא־יָ֥כְלוּ קֽוּם׃ {פ}
Au contraire, qu’ils tombent, les malfaiteurs; qu’ils soient renversés sans pouvoir se relever!

מה יקר חסדך אלהים אמר: החסד שתשוה בו לפעמים הטובים והרעים הוא בעולם הזה אבל בחסד העולם הבא לא יהיה לרעים חלק בו אלא כלו לטובים. והחסד ההוא יקר ונכבד מחסד העולם הזה, שהוא טוב עובר; ואותו החסד הוא הטוב הקים והנצחי. וזהו שאמר: מה יקר חסדך. ומלת מה היא להגדלה כמו: מה רב טובך אשר צפנת ליראיך (תהלים לא כ). לחסד העולם הזה אמר (תהלים נז יא): עד שמים חסדך; אבל חסד העולם הבא אין לו שיעור, כמו שאמר הנביא (ישעיהו סד ג): עין לא ראתה אלהים זולתך.

ובני אדם בצל כנפיך יחסיון: בעולם הבא יחסיון בצל כנפיך אותם שהם בני אדם באמת, לא אותם שהם כבהמה כמו שזכר; כי אותם יש להם לפעמים טובה בעולם הזה, אבל לעולם הבא לא. לפיכך אמר: אלהים, שענינו שופט, כי שם יגיע לכל אחד ואחד כמשפטו.
