1 לַ֝מְנַצֵּ֗חַ לְדָוִ֥ד מִזְמֽוֹר׃ Au chef des chantres; de David. Psaume.

2 קַוֺּ֣ה קִוִּ֣יתִי יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיֵּ֥ט אֵ֝לַ֗י וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע שַׁוְעָתִֽי׃ J’ai placé mon ferme espoir en l’Éternel: il s’est incliné vers moi, il a entendu ma supplication.

3 וַיַּעֲלֵ֤נִי ׀ מִבּ֥וֹר שָׁאוֹן֮ מִטִּ֢יט הַיָּ֫וֵ֥ן וַיָּ֖קֶם עַל־סֶ֥לַע רַגְלַ֗י כּוֹנֵ֥ן אֲשֻׁרָֽי׃ Il m’a retiré d’un gouffre tumultueux, d’un bourbier fangeux; il a posé mes pieds sur le roc et affermi mes pas.

4 וַיִּתֵּ֬ן בְּפִ֨י ׀ שִׁ֥יר חָדָשׁ֮ תְּהִלָּ֢ה לֵאלֹ֫הֵ֥ינוּ יִרְא֣וּ רַבִּ֣ים וְיִירָ֑אוּ וְ֝יִבְטְח֗וּ בַּיהֹוָֽה׃ Il a mis dans ma bouche un cantique nouveau, des louanges en l’honneur de notre Dieu; beaucoup s’en aperçoivent, éprouvent de la vénération, et mettent leur confiance en l’Éternel.

5 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי־הַגֶּ֗בֶר אֲשֶׁר־שָׂ֣ם יְ֭הֹוָה מִבְטַח֑וֹ וְֽלֹא־פָנָ֥ה אֶל־רְ֝הָבִ֗ים וְשָׂטֵ֥י כָזָֽב׃ Heureux l’homme qui cherche sa sécurité en l’Éternel, et ne se tourne pas vers les orgueilleux et les amis du mensonge!

6 רַבּ֤וֹת עָשִׂ֨יתָ ׀ אַתָּ֤ה ׀ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהַי֮ נִ֥פְלְאֹתֶ֥יךָ וּמַחְשְׁבֹתֶ֗יךָ אֵ֫לֵ֥ינוּ אֵ֤ין ׀ עֲרֹ֬ךְ אֵלֶ֗יךָ אַגִּ֥ידָה וַאֲדַבֵּ֑רָה עָ֝צְמ֗וּ מִסַּפֵּֽר׃ Que de prodiges, ô Éternel, mon Dieu, que de desseins tu as accomplis en notre faveur! Rien n’est comparable à toi, j’aimerais les proclamer et les redire encore… Leur grand nombre défie toute description.

7 זֶ֤בַח וּמִנְחָ֨ה ׀ לֹֽא־חָפַ֗צְתָּ אׇ֭זְנַיִם כָּרִ֣יתָ לִּ֑י עוֹלָ֥ה וַ֝חֲטָאָ֗ה לֹ֣א שָׁאָֽלְתָּ׃ Tu ne souhaites ni sacrifice ni oblation, tu m’as perforé des oreilles [pour entendre] tu n’exiges ni holocaustes ni expiatoires.

8 אָ֣ז אָ֭מַרְתִּי הִנֵּה־בָ֑אתִי בִּמְגִלַּת־סֵ֝֗פֶר כָּת֥וּב עָלָֽי׃ Aussi je dis: "Voici, je me présente! Dans le rouleau du livre se trouve ce qui m’est prescrit.

9 לַ֥עֲשׂוֹת־רְצוֹנְךָ֣ אֱלֹהַ֣י חָפָ֑צְתִּי וְ֝ת֥וֹרָתְךָ֗ בְּת֣וֹךְ מֵעָֽי׃ Accomplir ta volonté, mon Dieu, tel est mon désir; ta loi a pénétré jusqu’au fond de mes entrailles."

10 בִּשַּׂ֤רְתִּי צֶ֨דֶק ׀ בְּקָ֘הָ֤ל רָ֗ב הִנֵּ֣ה שְׂ֭פָתַי לֹ֣א אֶכְלָ֑א יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה אַתָּ֥ה יָדָֽעְתָּ׃ J’ai proclamé ton équité dans une nombreuse assemblée, voici, je n’ai pas tenu mes lèvres closes: Éternel, toi, tu le sais.

11 צִדְקָתְךָ֬ לֹֽא־כִסִּ֨יתִי ׀ בְּת֬וֹךְ לִבִּ֗י אֱמוּנָתְךָ֣ וּתְשׁוּעָתְךָ֣ אָמָ֑רְתִּי לֹא־כִחַ֥דְתִּי חַסְדְּךָ֥ וַ֝אֲמִתְּךָ֗ לְקָהָ֥ל רָֽב׃ Je n’ai point fait le silence sur ta justice, dont mon cœur est plein; j’ai dit ta fidélité et ta protection; je n’ai point caché ta grâce et ta bienveillance à la grande foule.

12 אַתָּ֤ה יְהֹוָ֗ה לֹֽא־תִכְלָ֣א רַחֲמֶ֣יךָ מִמֶּ֑נִּי חַסְדְּךָ֥ וַ֝אֲמִתְּךָ֗ תָּמִ֥יד יִצְּרֽוּנִי׃ Toi, non plus, ne me refuse pas ta clémence; que ta grâce et ta bonté me protègent sans cesse!

13 כִּ֤י אָפְפֽוּ־עָלַ֨י ׀ רָע֡וֹת עַד־אֵ֬ין מִסְפָּ֗ר הִשִּׂיג֣וּנִי עֲ֭וֺנֹתַי וְלֹא־יָכֹ֣לְתִּי לִרְא֑וֹת עָצְמ֥וּ מִשַּׂעֲר֥וֹת רֹ֝אשִׁ֗י וְלִבִּ֥י עֲזָבָֽנִי׃ car des maux sans nombre m’assiègent, mes péchés m’ont débordé, je ne puis plus rien voir; ils sont plus abondants que les cheveux de ma tête; aussi mon cœur est-il défaillant en moi.

14 רְצֵ֣ה יְ֭הֹוָה לְהַצִּילֵ֑נִי יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה לְעֶזְרָ֥תִי חֽוּשָׁה׃ Consens, Seigneur, à me sauver; Éternel, hâte-toi de me porter secours.

15 יֵ֘בֹ֤שׁוּ וְיַחְפְּר֨וּ ׀ יַחַד֮ מְבַקְשֵׁ֥י נַפְשִׁ֗י לִסְפּ֫וֹתָ֥הּ יִסֹּ֣גוּ אָ֭חוֹר וְיִכָּלְמ֑וּ חֲ֝פֵצֵ֗י רָעָתִֽי׃ Qu’ils soient ensemble confondus et couverts de honte, ceux qui attentent à ma vie, pour la supprimer! Qu’ils lâchent pied et reculent, en rougissant, ceux qui souhaitent mon malheur!

16 יָ֭שֹׁמּוּ עַל־עֵ֣קֶב בׇּשְׁתָּ֑ם הָאֹמְרִ֥ים לִ֝֗י הֶ֘אָ֥ח ׀ הֶאָֽח׃ Qu’ils soient frappés de stupeur par suite de leur honte, ceux qui disent de moi: "Ha! Ha!"

17 יָ֘שִׂ֤ישׂוּ וְיִשְׂמְח֨וּ ׀ בְּךָ֗ כׇּֽל־מְבַ֫קְשֶׁ֥יךָ יֹאמְר֣וּ תָ֭מִיד יִגְדַּ֣ל יְהֹוָ֑ה אֹ֝הֲבֵ֗י תְּשׁוּעָתֶֽךָ׃ Mais qu’ils jubilent et se réjouissent en toi, tous ceux qui te recherchent; qu’ils disent constamment: "Dieu est grand!" ceux qui aiment ta protection!

18 וַאֲנִ֤י ׀ עָנִ֣י וְאֶבְיוֹן֮ אֲדֹנָ֢י יַחֲשׇׁ֫ב־לִ֥י עֶזְרָתִ֣י וּמְפַלְטִ֣י אַ֑תָּה אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י אַל־תְּאַחַֽר׃ {פ}
Quant à moi, pauvre et malheureux, que mon Seigneur ait égard à moi! Tu es mon aide et ma sauvegarde: Éternel, n’attends pas trop longtemps.

Your wonders and Your thoughts are for us You created Your world for us; You split the sea for us, and You thought for us to benefit us in our end [by keeping us] in the desert for forty years because of the Amorites, who cut down the trees and made their land desolate when they heard that Israel was coming out to go to inherit their land.

There is none to equal You We cannot compare any king or savior to You. The expression ערך is like (Lev. 27:12): “valuation (כערכך),” a prizjjr in Old French, to estimate, [a priser, in modern French].

אתה יהוה אלהי נפלאתיך ומחשבתיך אלינו הנפלאות הן בשעת המעשה, והמחשבות טרם המעשה. ואמר על הבורא, יתברך, כאלו הוא חשב טרם המעשה, כי דברה תורה כלשון בני אדם (בבלי ברכות לא ב ובמקומות אחרים) וכן: הנה אנכי... וחשב עליכם מחשבה (ירמיהו יח יא). ואמר: אלינו כלומר: אליו ואל כל המיחלים לחסדו.
