1 לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מַשְׂכִּ֥יל לִבְנֵי־קֹֽרַח׃ Au chef des chantres. Maskîl. Par les fils de Coré.

2 כְּאַיָּ֗ל תַּעֲרֹ֥ג עַל־אֲפִֽיקֵי־מָ֑יִם כֵּ֤ן נַפְשִׁ֨י תַעֲרֹ֖ג אֵלֶ֣יךָ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Comme la biche aspire aux cours d’eau, ainsi mon âme aspire à toi, ô Dieu!

3 צָמְאָ֬ה נַפְשִׁ֨י ׀ לֵאלֹהִים֮ לְאֵ֢ל חָ֥֫י מָתַ֥י אָב֑וֹא וְ֝אֵרָאֶ֗ה פְּנֵ֣י אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Mon âme a soif de Dieu, du Dieu vivant; quand reviendrai-je pour paraître en présence de Dieu?

4 הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֬י דִמְעָתִ֣י לֶ֭חֶם יוֹמָ֣ם וָלָ֑יְלָה בֶּאֱמֹ֥ר אֵלַ֥י כׇּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם אַיֵּ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ Mes larmes sont ma nourriture de jour et de nuit, depuis qu’on me dit sans cesse: "Où est ton Dieu?"

5 אֵ֤לֶּה אֶזְכְּרָ֨ה ׀ וְאֶשְׁפְּכָ֬ה עָלַ֨י ׀ נַפְשִׁ֗י כִּ֤י אֶעֱבֹ֨ר ׀ בַּסָּךְ֮ אֶדַּדֵּ֗ם עַד־בֵּ֥ית־אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים בְּקוֹל־רִנָּ֥ה וְתוֹדָ֗ה הָמ֥וֹן חוֹגֵֽג׃ Mon âme se fond au dedans de moi, quand je me rappelle le temps où je m’avançais au milieu de rangs pressés, marchant en procession avec eux vers la maison de Dieu, au bruit des chants et des actions de grâce d’une foule en fête.

6 מַה־תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮ וַתֶּהֱמִ֢י עָ֫לָ֥י הוֹחִ֣לִי לֵ֭אלֹהִים כִּי־ע֥וֹד אוֹדֶ֗נּוּ יְשׁוּע֥וֹת פָּנָֽיו׃ Pourquoi es-tu affaissée, mon âme? Pourquoi t’agites-tu dans mon sein? Mets ton espoir en Dieu, car j’aurai encore à le louer: sa face apporte le salut.

7 אֱֽלֹהַ֗י עָלַי֮ נַפְשִׁ֢י תִשְׁתּ֫וֹחָ֥ח עַל־כֵּ֗ן אֶ֭זְכׇּרְךָ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ יַרְדֵּ֑ן וְ֝חֶרְמוֹנִ֗ים מֵהַ֥ר מִצְעָֽר׃ Mon Dieu, oui, mon âme est affaissée en moi; parce que je pense à toi de la région du Jourdain, des monts du Hermon, de la plus infime montagne.

8 תְּהוֹם־אֶל־תְּה֣וֹם ק֭וֹרֵא לְק֣וֹל צִנּוֹרֶ֑יךָ כׇּֽל־מִשְׁבָּרֶ֥יךָ וְ֝גַלֶּ֗יךָ עָלַ֥י עָבָֽרוּ׃ Le gouffre appelle le gouffre, au bruit de tes cascades; toutes tes vagues et tes ondes ont passé sur moi.

9 יוֹמָ֤ם ׀ יְצַוֶּ֬ה יְהֹוָ֨ה ׀ חַסְדּ֗וֹ וּ֭בַלַּיְלָה שִׁירֹ֣ה עִמִּ֑י תְּ֝פִלָּ֗ה לְאֵ֣ל חַיָּֽי׃ Puisse l’Éternel chaque jour mettre sa grâce en œuvre! que la nuit un cantique en son honneur soit sur mes lèvres, ma prière au Dieu vivant!

10 אוֹמְרָ֤ה ׀ לְאֵ֥ל סַלְעִי֮ לָמָ֢ה שְׁכַ֫חְתָּ֥נִי לָֽמָּה־קֹדֵ֥ר אֵלֵ֗ךְ בְּלַ֣חַץ אוֹיֵֽב׃ Je dis à Dieu, qui est mon rocher: "Pourquoi m’as-tu oublié? Pourquoi marché-je, voilé de tristesse, sous l’oppression de l’ennemi?"

11 בְּרֶ֤צַח ׀ בְּֽעַצְמוֹתַ֗י חֵרְפ֥וּנִי צוֹרְרָ֑י בְּאׇמְרָ֥ם אֵלַ֥י כׇּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם אַיֵּ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ C’est comme s’ils me broyaient les os, lorsque mes adversaires me couvrent d’insultes, me disant tout le temps: "Où est ton Dieu?"

12 מַה־תִּשְׁתּ֬וֹחֲחִ֨י ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮ וּֽמַה־תֶּהֱמִ֢י עָ֫לָ֥י הוֹחִ֣ילִי לֵ֭אלֹהִים כִּי־ע֣וֹד אוֹדֶ֑נּוּ יְשׁוּעֹ֥ת פָּ֝נַ֗י וֵאלֹהָֽי׃ {פ}
Pourquoi es-tu affaissée, mon âme? Pourquoi t’agites-tu dans mon sein? Mets ton espoir en Dieu, car j’aurai encore à le louer, lui, mon sauveur et mon Dieu!

to the sound of Your water channels (Tes canals in Old French, canaux in modern French) which spray retribution upon me like flooding waters, until all Your breakers and waves have passed over me. “Your breakers” is an expression of the waves of the sea, because the waves of the sea ascend, break, and fall.

תהום - כטעם הפרשה יזכור הצינורים שירדו המים מההרים הגבוהים.

וטעם תהום אל תהום קורא – שהיו מתחברים מימי הצנורים למטה, כדרך ושעיר אל רעהו יקרא. והטעם שהיה מתענג בעברו אל ההרים, המים יורדים כמו משברי הים וגליו ויכסו אותו בימי הקיץ, והמפרש זה הפסוק על דבר הגלות, איננו קשור באשר לפניו ואחריו.

לקול צנוריך. כלומר נפשי השתוחח לקול צנוריך, כלומר כך נמשכות עלינו הצרות כמו מים נשפכים מן הגג מן הצנור ומשמיעים קול, ויש לפרש כי העננים יקראו צינורים לפי שהם שופכים המטר והכל משל על הצרות:

כל משבריך וגליך עלי עברו. עברו עלינו ואמר משבריך וגליך, כי אתה הבאתם עלינו בעונינו:
