1 שִׁ֥יר מִ֝זְמ֗וֹר לִבְנֵי־קֹֽרַח׃ Cantique. Psaume des fils de Coré.

2 גָּ֘ד֤וֹל יְהֹוָ֣ה וּמְהֻלָּ֣ל מְאֹ֑ד בְּעִ֥יר אֱ֝לֹהֵ֗ינוּ הַר־קׇדְשֽׁוֹ׃ Grand est l’Éternel et justement glorifié, dans la ville de notre Dieu, sa sainte montagne.

3 יְפֵ֥ה נוֹף֮ מְשׂ֢וֹשׂ כׇּל־הָ֫אָ֥רֶץ הַר־צִ֭יּוֹן יַרְכְּתֵ֣י צָפ֑וֹן קִ֝רְיַ֗ת מֶ֣לֶךְ רָֽב׃ Comme elle se dresse magnifique, joie de toute la terre, la montagne de Sion, aux flancs dirigés vers le Nord, la cité d’un roi puissant!

4 אֱלֹהִ֥ים בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֶ֗יהָ נוֹדַ֥ע לְמִשְׂגָּֽב׃ Dieu réside en ses palais, il s’est fait connaître comme leur vrai rempart.

5 כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֣ה הַ֭מְּלָכִים נ֥וֹעֲד֑וּ עָבְר֥וּ יַחְדָּֽו׃ Car voici, les rois s’étaient ligués, mais ensemble ils ont disparu.

6 הֵ֣מָּה רָ֭אוּ כֵּ֣ן תָּמָ֑הוּ נִבְהֲל֥וּ נֶחְפָּֽזוּ׃ C’est qu’ils ont vu: aussitôt ils furent frappés de stupeur, l’épouvante les saisit; éperdus, ils s’enfuirent.

7 רְ֭עָדָה אֲחָזָ֣תַם שָׁ֑ם חִ֝֗יל כַּיּוֹלֵדָֽה׃ Là un frisson s’empara d’eux, une angoisse comme d’une femme qui enfante:

8 בְּר֥וּחַ קָדִ֑ים תְּ֝שַׁבֵּ֗ר אֳנִיּ֥וֹת תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ׃ par le vent d’Est, tu as brisé les vaisseaux de Tarsis.

9 כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁמַ֨עְנוּ ׀ כֵּ֤ן רָאִ֗ינוּ בְּעִיר־יְהֹוָ֣ה צְ֭בָאוֹת בְּעִ֣יר אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ אֱלֹ֘הִ֤ים יְכוֹנְנֶ֖הָ עַד־עוֹלָ֣ם סֶֽלָה׃ Ce que nous avions entendu, nous l’avons vu dans la ville de l’Éternel-Cebaot, la ville de notre Dieu: Dieu l’a affermie pour l’éternité. Sélah!

10 דִּמִּ֣ינוּ אֱלֹהִ֣ים חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ בְּ֝קֶ֗רֶב הֵיכָלֶֽךָ׃ Nous nous représentons, ô Dieu, ta bonté, dans l’enceinte de ton sanctuaire.

11 כְּשִׁמְךָ֤ אֱלֹהִ֗ים כֵּ֣ן תְּ֭הִלָּתְךָ עַל־קַצְוֵי־אֶ֑רֶץ צֶ֝֗דֶק מָלְאָ֥ה יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ Comme ta renommée, ô Dieu, ainsi [éclatent] tes louanges jusqu’aux confins de la terre; ta droite est pleine de justice.

12 יִשְׂמַ֤ח ׀ הַר־צִיּ֗וֹן תָּ֭גֵלְנָה בְּנ֣וֹת יְהוּדָ֑ה לְ֝מַ֗עַן מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃ Qu’elle se réjouisse, la montagne de Sion, qu’elles se livrent à l’allégresse, les filles de Juda, en raison de tes jugements!

13 סֹ֣בּוּ צִ֭יּוֹן וְהַקִּיפ֑וּהָ סִ֝פְר֗וּ מִגְדָּלֶֽיהָ׃ Faites le tour de Sion, parcourez-la à la ronde, comptez ses tourelles.

14 שִׁ֤יתוּ לִבְּכֶ֨ם ׀ לְֽחֵילָ֗הֿ פַּסְּג֥וּ אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֑יהָ לְמַ֥עַן תְּ֝סַפְּר֗וּ לְד֣וֹר אַחֲרֽוֹן׃ Fixez votre attention sur ses remparts, admirez ses palais, pour que vous puissiez raconter aux générations futures

15 כִּ֤י זֶ֨ה ׀ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֱ֭לֹהֵינוּ עוֹלָ֣ם וָעֶ֑ד ה֖וּא יְנַהֲגֵ֣נוּ עַל־מֽוּת׃ {פ}
que ce Dieu est notre Dieu pour l’éternité! C’est lui qui nous dirigera jusqu’à l’heure de la mort.

English

With an east wind That is an expression of retribution, with which the Holy One, blessed be He, recompenses the wicked, as it is stated (Exod. 14:21): “and the Lord led the sea with a strong east wind, etc.” Similarly (Ezek. 16:27, 26): “The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas”; (Jer. 18:17), “Like an east wind, I will scatter you before the enemy.”

the ships of Tarshish They are the neighbors of Tyre, which is Africa, and it is of Edom.
