1 לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David

2 בְּֽבוֹא־אֵ֭לָיו נָתָ֣ן הַנָּבִ֑יא כַּאֲשֶׁר־בָּ֝֗א אֶל־בַּת־שָֽׁבַע׃ lorsque le prophète Nathan fut venu le trouver, à la suite de ses relations avec Bethsabée.

3 חׇנֵּ֣נִי אֱלֹהִ֣ים כְּחַסְדֶּ֑ךָ כְּרֹ֥ב רַ֝חֲמֶ֗יךָ מְחֵ֣ה פְשָׁעָֽי׃ Prends-moi en pitié, ô Dieu, dans la mesure de ta bonté; selon la grandeur de ta clémence, efface mes fautes.

4 (הרבה) [הֶ֭רֶב] כַּבְּסֵ֣נִי מֵעֲוֺנִ֑י וּֽמֵחַטָּאתִ֥י טַהֲרֵֽנִי׃ Lave-moi à grandes eaux de mon iniquité, purifie-moi de mon péché.

5 כִּֽי־פְ֭שָׁעַי אֲנִ֣י אֵדָ֑ע וְחַטָּאתִ֖י נֶגְדִּ֣י תָמִֽיד׃ Car je reconnais mes fautes, et mon péché est sans cesse sous mes regards.

6 לְךָ֤ לְבַדְּךָ֨ ׀ חָטָאתִי֮ וְהָרַ֥ע בְּעֵינֶ֗יךָ עָ֫שִׂ֥יתִי לְ֭מַעַן תִּצְדַּ֥ק בְּדׇבְרֶ֗ךָ תִּזְכֶּ֥ה בְשׇׁפְטֶֽךָ׃ Contre toi seul j’ai failli, j’ai fait ce qui est mal à tes yeux; ainsi tu serais équitable dans ton arrêt, tu aurais le droit pour toi en me condamnant.

7 הֵן־בְּעָו֥וֹן חוֹלָ֑לְתִּי וּ֝בְחֵ֗טְא יֶחֱמַ֥תְנִי אִמִּֽי׃ Mais, en vérité, j’ai été enfanté dans l’iniquité, et c’est dans le péché que ma mère m’a conçu.

8 הֵן־אֱ֭מֶת חָפַ֣צְתָּ בַטֻּח֑וֹת וּ֝בְסָתֻ֗ם חׇכְמָ֥ה תוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃ Or, toi tu exiges la vérité dans le secret des cœurs, dans mon for intime tu m’enseignes la sagesse.

9 תְּחַטְּאֵ֣נִי בְאֵז֣וֹב וְאֶטְהָ֑ר תְּ֝כַבְּסֵ֗נִי וּמִשֶּׁ֥לֶג אַלְבִּֽין׃ Puisses-tu me purifier avec l’hysope, pour que je sois pur! Puisses-tu me laver, pour que je sois plus blanc que neige!

10 תַּ֭שְׁמִיעֵנִי שָׂשׂ֣וֹן וְשִׂמְחָ֑ה תָּ֝גֵ֗לְנָה עֲצָמ֥וֹת דִּכִּֽיתָ׃ Puisses-tu me faire entendre des accents d’allégresse et de joie, afin que ces membres que tu as broyés retrouvent leur joyeux entrain!

11 הַסְתֵּ֣ר פָּ֭נֶיךָ מֵחֲטָאָ֑י וְֽכׇל־עֲוֺ֖נֹתַ֣י מְחֵֽה׃ Détourne ton visage de mes péchés, efface toutes mes iniquités.

12 לֵ֣ב טָ֭הוֹר בְּרָא־לִ֣י אֱלֹהִ֑ים וְר֥וּחַ נָ֝כ֗וֹן חַדֵּ֥שׁ בְּקִרְבִּֽי׃ O Dieu, crée en moi un cœur pur, et fais renaître dans mon sein un esprit droit.

13 אַל־תַּשְׁלִיכֵ֥נִי מִלְּפָנֶ֑יךָ וְר֥וּחַ קׇ֝דְשְׁךָ֗ אַל־תִּקַּ֥ח מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ Ne me rejette pas de devant ta face, ne me retire pas ta sainte inspiration.

14 הָשִׁ֣יבָה לִּ֭י שְׂשׂ֣וֹן יִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ וְר֖וּחַ נְדִיבָ֣ה תִסְמְכֵֽנִי׃ Rends-moi la pleine joie de ton secours, et soutiens-moi avec ton esprit magnanime.

15 אֲלַמְּדָ֣ה פֹשְׁעִ֣ים דְּרָכֶ֑יךָ וְ֝חַטָּאִ֗ים אֵלֶ֥יךָ יָשֽׁוּבוּ׃ Je voudrais enseigner tes voies aux pécheurs, afin que les coupables reviennent à toi.

16 הַצִּ֘ילֵ֤נִי מִדָּמִ֨ים ׀ אֱֽלֹהִ֗ים אֱלֹהֵ֥י תְשׁוּעָתִ֑י תְּרַנֵּ֥ן לְ֝שׁוֹנִ֗י צִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃ Préserve-moi, ô Dieu, Dieu de mon salut, d’un arrêt sanglant: ma langue célébrera ton équité.

17 אֲ֭דֹנָי שְׂפָתַ֣י תִּפְתָּ֑ח וּ֝פִ֗י יַגִּ֥יד תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃ Seigneur, puisses-tu m’ouvrir les lèvres, pour que ma bouche proclame tes louanges!

18 כִּ֤י ׀ לֹא־תַחְפֹּ֣ץ זֶ֣בַח וְאֶתֵּ֑נָה ע֝וֹלָ֗ה לֹ֣א תִרְצֶֽה׃ Car tu ne souhaites pas de sacrifices, je les offrirais volontiers tu ne prends point plaisir aux holocaustes:

19 זִ֥בְחֵ֣י אֱלֹהִים֮ ר֤וּחַ נִשְׁבָּ֫רָ֥ה לֵב־נִשְׁבָּ֥ר וְנִדְכֶּ֑ה אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים לֹ֣א תִבְזֶֽה׃ les sacrifices [agréables] à Dieu, c’est un esprit contrit; un cœur brisé et abattu, ô Dieu, tu ne le dédaignes point.

20 הֵיטִ֣יבָה בִ֭רְצוֹנְךָ אֶת־צִיּ֑וֹן תִּ֝בְנֶ֗ה חוֹמ֥וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ Ah! dans ta bienveillance, daigne restaurer Sion, rebâtir les murailles de Jérusalem.

21 אָ֤ז תַּחְפֹּ֣ץ זִבְחֵי־צֶ֭דֶק עוֹלָ֣ה וְכָלִ֑יל אָ֤ז יַעֲל֖וּ עַל־מִזְבַּחֲךָ֣ פָרִֽים׃ {פ}
Alors tu agréeras des sacrifices pieux, holocaustes et victimes parfaites alors on présentera des taureaux sur ton autel.

Against You alone have I sinned Therefore, it is in Your power to forgive [me]. Even in my sin against Uriah, I sinned against You, for You warned against the matter.

in order that You be justified in Your conduct like במנהגך, in Your conduct. I had the strength to overpower my evil inclination, but, so that they should not say, “The servant overpowered his master,”for I said to You (Ps. 26: 2), “Test me, O Lord, and try me,” and You tested me and I was not found perfect, in order that You should be justified and not I (Sanh. 107a). Another explanation: in order that You be justified in Your conduct If You forgive me, You will be justified in Your judgment against all the wicked who do not repent, so that they will not be able to say, “If we had repented, it would not have availed us.”

לך לבדך. כי דבר בת שבע בסתר היה ואין יודע זולתך ואע"פ שקראתי אותה על יד עבדי לא היו יודעים למה קראו אותה, וגם בדבר אוריה אין אדם יודע למה סבותי מיתתו כי חשבו בני אדם לפי שעבר מצותו צוה לסבב מיתתו ואתה ידעת בשני הדברי' כי לבבי להרע ולא אכפור בחטא. והגאון רב סעדיה פי' לך לבדך חטאתי וגו':

לך כלומר אני מתודה ואומר חטאתי לך לבדך ולא אפרסם החטא לזולתי ולך אומר הרע בעיניך עשיתי:

למען תצדק בדברך. כלומר שתשא חטאתי כמו שאמרת למשה נושא עון ופשע וחטאה:
