1 וָאָשׁ֕וּב וָאֶשָּׂ֥א עֵינַ֖י וָֽאֶרְאֶ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֖ה מְגִלָּ֥ה עָפָֽה׃ Puis, je me repris à lever les yeux et je regardai: c’était un rouleau qui volait.

2 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י מָ֥ה אַתָּ֖ה רֹאֶ֑ה וָאֹמַ֗ר אֲנִ֤י רֹאֶה֙ מְגִלָּ֣ה עָפָ֔ה אׇרְכָּהּ֙ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים בָּֽאַמָּ֔ה וְרׇחְבָּ֖הּ עֶ֥שֶׂר בָּאַמָּֽה׃ Il me dit: "Que vois-tu?" Je répondis: "Je vois un rouleau qui vole; sa longueur est de vingt coudées et sa largeur de dix coudées."

3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י זֹ֚את הָֽאָלָ֔ה הַיּוֹצֵ֖את עַל־פְּנֵ֣י כׇל־הָאָ֑רֶץ כִּ֣י כׇל־הַגֹּנֵ֗ב מִזֶּה֙ כָּמ֣וֹהָ נִקָּ֔ה וְכׇ֨ל־הַנִּשְׁבָּ֔ע מִזֶּ֖ה כָּמ֥וֹהָ נִקָּֽה׃ Il me dit: "C’est là la malédiction qui se répand sur la face de tout ce pays; car quiconque dérobe sera rejeté d’ici comme elle [l’annonce], et quiconque se parjure sera rejeté d’ici comme elle [l’annonce].

4 הוֹצֵאתִ֗יהָ נְאֻם֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֔וֹת וּבָ֙אָה֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ית הַגַּנָּ֔ב וְאֶל־בֵּ֛ית הַנִּשְׁבָּ֥ע בִּשְׁמִ֖י לַשָּׁ֑קֶר וְלָ֙נֶה֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ בֵּית֔וֹ וְכִלַּ֖תּוּ וְאֶת־עֵצָ֥יו וְאֶת־אֲבָנָֽיו׃ Je lui ai donné libre cours, dit l’Éternel-Cebaot, pour qu’elle entre dans la maison du larron et dans la maison de celui qui jure faussement par mon nom: elle élira domicile au milieu de sa maison et la ruinera avec sa charpente et ses pierres."

5 וַיֵּצֵ֕א הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י שָׂ֣א נָ֤א עֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מָ֖ה הַיּוֹצֵ֥את הַזֹּֽאת׃ Puis l’ange qui conversait avec moi sortit et me dit: "Lève donc les yeux et regarde ce qui apparaît-là."

6 וָאֹמַ֖ר מַה־הִ֑יא וַיֹּ֗אמֶר זֹ֤את הָֽאֵיפָה֙ הַיּוֹצֵ֔את וַיֹּ֕אמֶר זֹ֥את עֵינָ֖ם בְּכׇל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ Et je dis: "Qu’est-ce?" Il répondit: "C’est l’êpha qui apparaît." Et il ajouta: "C’est vers elle que se portent les regards sur toute la terre."

7 וְהִנֵּ֛ה כִּכַּ֥ר עֹפֶ֖רֶת נִשֵּׂ֑את וְזֹאת֙ אִשָּׁ֣ה אַחַ֔ת יוֹשֶׁ֖בֶת בְּת֥וֹךְ הָאֵיפָֽה׃ Or, voici qu’un bloc de plomb était soulevé et qu’on [voyait] une femme assise dans l’êpha.

8 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ זֹ֣את הָרִשְׁעָ֔ה וַיַּשְׁלֵ֥ךְ אֹתָ֖הּ אֶל־תּ֣וֹךְ הָֽאֵיפָ֑ה וַיַּשְׁלֵ֛ךְ אֶת־אֶ֥בֶן הָעוֹפֶ֖רֶת אֶל־פִּֽיהָ׃ {ס} Il dit: "C’est là la Méchanceté!" Il la repoussa au fond de l’êpha et rejeta la masse de plomb sur l’ouverture.

9 וָאֶשָּׂ֨א עֵינַ֜י וָאֵ֗רֶא וְהִנֵּה֩ שְׁתַּ֨יִם נָשִׁ֤ים יֽוֹצְאוֹת֙ וְר֣וּחַ בְּכַנְפֵיהֶ֔ם וְלָהֵ֥נָּה כְנָפַ֖יִם כְּכַנְפֵ֣י הַחֲסִידָ֑ה וַתִּשֶּׂ֙אנָה֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֵיפָ֔ה בֵּ֥ין הָאָ֖רֶץ וּבֵ֥ין הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ Je levai les yeux et je vis sortir deux femmes, les ailes gonflées par le vent. Elles avaient, en effet, des ailes pareilles aux ailes de la cigogne, et elles transportèrent l’êpha entre ciel et terre.

10 וָאֹמַ֕ר אֶל־הַמַּלְאָ֖ךְ הַדֹּבֵ֣ר בִּ֑י אָ֛נָה הֵ֥מָּה מֽוֹלִכ֖וֹת אֶת־הָאֵיפָֽה׃ Je dis à l’ange, qui conversait avec moi: "Où transportent-elles l’êpha?"

11 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֔י לִבְנֽוֹת־לָ֥הֿ בַ֖יִת בְּאֶ֣רֶץ שִׁנְעָ֑ר וְהוּכַ֛ן וְהֻנִּ֥יחָה שָּׁ֖ם עַל־מְכֻנָתָֽהּ׃ {פ}
Il me répondit: "[Elles vont] pour lui bâtir une demeure dans le pays de Sennaar, et quand celle-ci sera solidement établie, elle y sera déposée à demeure fixe."

This is the curse This is [the scroll] in which is written the retribution, the revenge for a false oath.

[The scroll] is now coming forth from the Holy of Holies, from before the Shechinah, to walk to and fro upon the face of the entire land; this is the meaning of “its length is twenty, and its width is ten” - as the measure of the entrance to the Temple court and the Temple, through which it shall emerge.

was cleared from such as this He was cleared from this retribution, as it delineated on it [i.e., the scroll]. The retribution of individuals who transgressed the Torah was not meted out, but He waited until the measure of all of them was filled, and they all suffered at once with the destruction and the exile. Similarly, everyone who heretofore swore falsely, was cleared of the retribution as delineated in this scroll and was not requited, but from now on... I have brought it forth to walk to and fro in the land and to wreak vengeance upon the thieves and the swearers of falsehoods from now on; and it shall come into the house of the thief, etc.

וטעם היוצאת על פני כל הארץ – כי היא כוללת היהודים שהיו בירושלים ואשר נשארו בבבל ובארץ פרס.

וטעם מזה כמוה – כי היה כתוב במגלה מזה הצד הגונב נקה מצד שני הנשבע נקה או מזה ומזה, כי הגנב והנשבע נקה והוא נכון.

וטעם נקה – שיחשוב כל אחד הגובה והנשבע כי השם נקהו.
