Exode 2:17

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

2

5 וַתֵּ֤רֶד בַּת־פַּרְעֹה֙ לִרְחֹ֣ץ עַל־הַיְאֹ֔ר וְנַעֲרֹתֶ֥יהָ הֹלְכֹ֖ת עַל־יַ֣ד הַיְאֹ֑ר וַתֵּ֤רֶא אֶת־הַתֵּבָה֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַסּ֔וּף וַתִּשְׁלַ֥ח אֶת־אֲמָתָ֖הּ וַתִּקָּחֶֽהָ׃ Or, la fille de Pharaon descendit, pour se baigner, vers le fleuve, ses compagnes la suivant sur la rive.

Voudrais-tu me tuer, comme tu as tué l’Égyptien?"
Il dit à ses filles: "Et où est-il? Pourquoi avez-vous laissé là cet homme? Appelez-le, qu’il vienne manger."
22 וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֔ן וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ גֵּרְשֹׁ֑ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר גֵּ֣ר הָיִ֔יתִי בְּאֶ֖רֶץ נׇכְרִיָּֽה׃ {פ}

Da'at Zekenim

English

ויקם משה ויושיען, “Moses arose and saved them.” From the use of the word: “he arose,” it is clear that that the male shepherds had thrown Yitro’s daughters into the troughs, as a punishment for their father who had become an outcast for his religious beliefs, and who had rejected idolatry as a result. (Sh’mot Rabbah 1,32.) The expression ויושע makes it clear that the persons helped had been in mortal danger as we know from Psalms 69,2: הושיעני אלוקים כי באו מים עד נפש, “deliver me, O G–d, for the waters have reached my (soul) neck.”
