1 אָדָ֥ם שֵׁ֖ת אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃ Adam, Seth, Enos,

2 קֵינָ֥ן מַהֲלַלְאֵ֖ל יָֽרֶד׃ Kênân, Mahalalêl, Yéred,

3 חֲנ֥וֹךְ מְתוּשֶׁ֖לַח לָֽמֶךְ׃ Hénoc, Mathusalem, Lamec,

4 נֹ֥חַ שֵׁ֖ם חָ֥ם וָיָֽפֶת׃ {ס} Noé, Sem, Cham et Japhet.

5 בְּנֵ֣י יֶ֔פֶת גֹּ֣מֶר וּמָג֔וֹג וּמָדַ֖י וְיָוָ֣ן וְתֻבָ֑ל וּמֶ֖שֶׁךְ וְתִירָֽס׃ {ס} Enfants de Japhet: Gomer, Magog, Madaï, Yavân, Toubal, Méchec et Tirâs.

6 וּבְנֵ֖י גֹּ֑מֶר אַשְׁכְּנַ֥ז וְדִיפַ֖ת וְתוֹגַרְמָֽה׃ {ס} Enfants de Gomer: Achkenaz, Difath et Togarma.

7 וּבְנֵ֥י יָוָ֖ן אֱלִישָׁ֣ה וְתַרְשִׁ֑ישָׁה כִּתִּ֖ים וְרוֹדָנִֽים׃ {ס} Enfants de Yavân: Elicha, Tharsis, Kittim et Rodanim.

8 בְּנֵ֖י חָ֑ם כּ֥וּשׁ וּמִצְרַ֖יִם פּ֥וּט וּכְנָֽעַן׃ Enfants de Cham: Kouch, Misraïm, Pout et Canaan.

9 וּבְנֵ֣י כ֔וּשׁ סְבָא֙ וַֽחֲוִילָ֔ה וְסַבְתָּ֥א וְרַעְמָ֖א וְסַבְתְּכָ֑א וּבְנֵ֥י רַעְמָ֖א שְׁבָ֥א וּדְדָֽן׃ {ס} Enfants de Kouch: Seba, Havila, Sabta, Râma et Sabteca; enfants de Râma: Cheba et Dedân.

10 וְכ֖וּשׁ יָלַ֣ד אֶת־נִמְר֑וֹד ה֣וּא הֵחֵ֔ל לִֽהְי֥וֹת גִּבּ֖וֹר בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ {ס} Kouch engendra aussi Nemrod, celui qui, le premier, fut puissant sur la terre. י

11 וּמִצְרַ֡יִם יָלַ֞ד אֶת־[לוּדִ֧ים] (לודיים) וְאֶת־עֲנָמִ֛ים וְאֶת־לְהָבִ֖ים וְאֶת־נַפְתֻּחִֽים׃ Misraïm fut la souche des Loudim, des Anamim, des Lehabim, des Naftouhim,

12 וְֽאֶת־פַּתְרֻסִ֞ים וְאֶת־כַּסְלֻחִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָצְא֥וּ מִשָּׁ֛ם פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים וְאֶת־כַּפְתֹּרִֽים׃ {ס} des Pathrousim, des Kaslouhim (d’où sortirent les Philistins) et des Kaftorim.

13 וּכְנַ֗עַן יָלַ֛ד אֶת־צִיד֥וֹן בְּכֹר֖וֹ וְאֶת־חֵֽת׃ Canaan engendra Sidon, son premier-né, Heth,

14 וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִי֙ וְאֶת־הָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔י וְאֵ֖ת הַגִּרְגָּשִֽׁי׃ puis le Jébuséen, l’Amorréen, le Ghirgachéen,

15 וְאֶת־הַחִוִּ֥י וְאֶת־הַעַרְקִ֖י וְאֶת־הַסִּינִֽי׃ le Hévéen, l’Arkéen, le Sinéen,

16 וְאֶת־הָאַרְוָדִ֥י וְאֶת־הַצְּמָרִ֖י וְאֶת־הַחֲמָתִֽי׃ {ס} l’Arvadéen, le Cemaréen et le Hamathéen.

17 בְּנֵ֣י שֵׁ֔ם עֵילָ֣ם וְאַשּׁ֔וּר וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁ֖ד וְל֣וּד וַאֲרָ֑ם וְע֥וּץ וְח֖וּל וְגֶ֥תֶר וָמֶֽשֶׁךְ׃ {ס} Enfants de Sem: Elam, Assur, Arphaxad, Loud, Aram, Ouç, Houl, Ghéter et Méchec.

18 וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁ֖ד יָלַ֣ד אֶת־שָׁ֑לַח וְשֶׁ֖לַח יָלַ֥ד אֶת־עֵֽבֶר׃ Arphaxad engendra Chélah, et Chélah engendra Eber.

19 וּלְעֵ֥בֶר יֻלַּ֖ד שְׁנֵ֣י בָנִ֑ים שֵׁ֣ם הָאֶחָ֞ד פֶּ֗לֶג כִּ֤י בְיָמָיו֙ נִפְלְגָ֣ה הָאָ֔רֶץ וְשֵׁ֥ם אָחִ֖יו יׇקְטָֽן׃ A Eber il naquit deux fils. Le nom de l’un était Péleg, parce que de son temps fut partagée la terre; et le nom de son frère: Yoktân.

20 וְיׇקְטָ֣ן יָלַ֔ד אֶת־אַלְמוֹדָ֖ד וְאֶת־שָׁ֑לֶף וְאֶת־חֲצַרְמָ֖וֶת וְאֶת־יָֽרַח׃ Yoktân engendra Almodad, Chélef, Haçarmaveth, Yérah,

21 וְאֶת־הֲדוֹרָ֥ם וְאֶת־אוּזָ֖ל וְאֶת־דִּקְלָֽה׃ Hadoram, Ouzal, Dikla,

22 וְאֶת־עֵיבָ֥ל וְאֶת־אֲבִֽימָאֵ֖ל וְאֶת־שְׁבָֽא׃ Ebal, Abimaêl, Cheba,

23 וְאֶת־אוֹפִ֥יר וְאֶת־חֲוִילָ֖ה וְאֶת־יוֹבָ֑ב כׇּל־אֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֥י יׇקְטָֽן׃ {ס} Ophir, Havila et Yobab. Tous ceux-là furent enfants de Yoktân.

24 שֵׁ֥ם ׀ אַרְפַּכְשַׁ֖ד שָֽׁלַח׃ Sem, Arphaxad, Chélah,

25 עֵ֥בֶר פֶּ֖לֶג רְעֽוּ׃ Eber, Péleg, Reou,

26 שְׂר֥וּג נָח֖וֹר תָּֽרַח׃ Seroug, Nacor, Tharé,

27 אַבְרָ֖ם ה֥וּא אַבְרָהָֽם׃ {ס} Abram, qui est identique à Abraham.

28 בְּנֵי֙ אַבְרָהָ֔ם יִצְחָ֖ק וְיִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃ {ס} Enfants d’Abraham: Isaac et Ismaël.

29 אֵ֖לֶּה תֹּלְדוֹתָ֑ם בְּכ֤וֹר יִשְׁמָעֵאל֙ נְבָי֔וֹת וְקֵדָ֥ר וְאַדְבְּאֵ֖ל וּמִבְשָֽׂם׃ Voici leurs générations: le premier-né d’Ismaël, Nebaïoth, puis Kédar, Adbeêl, Mibsam,

30 מִשְׁמָ֣ע וְדוּמָ֔ה מַשָּׂ֖א חֲדַ֥ד וְתֵימָֽא׃ Michma, Douma, Massa, Hadad, Têma,

31 יְט֥וּר נָפִ֖ישׁ וָקֵ֑דְמָה אֵ֥לֶּה הֵ֖ם בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃ {ס} Yetour, Nafich et Kêdma. Tels sont les fils d’Ismaël.

32 וּבְנֵ֨י קְטוּרָ֜ה פִּילֶ֣גֶשׁ אַבְרָהָ֗ם יָלְדָ֞ה אֶת־זִמְרָ֧ן וְיׇקְשָׁ֛ן וּמְדָ֥ן וּמִדְיָ֖ן וְיִשְׁבָּ֣ק וְשׁ֑וּחַ וּבְנֵ֥י יׇקְשָׁ֖ן שְׁבָ֥א וּדְדָֽן׃ {ס} Enfants de Ketoura, concubine d’Abraham: elle enfanta Zimrân, Yokchân, Medân, Madiân, Yichbak et Chouah. Enfants de Yokchân: Cheba et Dedân.

33 וּבְנֵ֣י מִדְיָ֗ן עֵיפָ֤ה וָעֵ֙פֶר֙ וַחֲנ֔וֹךְ וַאֲבִידָ֖ע וְאֶלְדָּעָ֑ה כׇּל־אֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֥י קְטוּרָֽה׃ {ס} Enfants de Madiân: Efa, Efer, Hanoc, Abida et Eldaa. Tous ceux-là furent les enfants de Ketoura.

34 וַיּ֥וֹלֶד אַבְרָהָ֖ם אֶת־יִצְחָ֑ק בְּנֵ֣י יִצְחָ֔ק עֵשָׂ֖ו וְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס} Abraham engendra Isaac. Enfants d’Isaac: Esaü et Israël.

35 בְּנֵ֖י עֵשָׂ֑ו אֱלִיפַ֛ז רְעוּאֵ֥ל וִיע֖וּשׁ וְיַעְלָ֥ם וְקֹֽרַח׃ {ס} Enfants d’Esaü: Elifaz, Reouêl, Yeouch, Yâlam et Korah.

36 בְּנֵ֖י אֱלִיפָ֑ז תֵּימָ֤ן וְאוֹמָר֙ צְפִ֣י וְגַעְתָּ֔ם קְנַ֖ז וְתִמְנָ֥ע וַעֲמָלֵֽק׃ {ס} Enfants d’Elifaz: Têmân, Omar, Cefi, Gâtam, Kenaz, Timna et Amalec.

37 בְּנֵ֖י רְעוּאֵ֑ל נַ֥חַת זֶ֖רַח שַׁמָּ֥ה וּמִזָּֽה׃ {ס} Enfants de Reouêl: Nahath, Zérah, Chamma et Mizza.

38 וּבְנֵ֣י שֵׂעִ֔יר לוֹטָ֥ן וְשׁוֹבָ֖ל וְצִבְע֣וֹן וַעֲנָ֑ה וְדִישֹׁ֥ן וְאֵ֖צֶר וְדִישָֽׁן׃ {ס} Enfants de Séir: Lotân, Chobal, Cibôn, Ana, Dichôn, Ecer et Dichân.

39 וּבְנֵ֥י לוֹטָ֖ן חֹרִ֣י וְהוֹמָ֑ם וַאֲח֥וֹת לוֹטָ֖ן תִּמְנָֽע׃ {ס} Enfants de Lotân: Hori et Homam; la sœur de Lotân était Timna.

40 בְּנֵ֣י שׁוֹבָ֔ל עַלְיָ֧ן וּמָנַ֛חַת וְעֵיבָ֖ל שְׁפִ֣י וְאוֹנָ֑ם וּבְנֵ֥י צִבְע֖וֹן אַיָּ֥ה וַעֲנָֽה׃ {ס} Enfants de Chobal: Alyân, Manahath, Ebal, Chefi et Onam. Enfants de Cibôn: Ayya et Ana.

41 בְּנֵ֥י עֲנָ֖ה דִּישׁ֑וֹן וּבְנֵ֣י דִישׁ֔וֹן חַמְרָ֥ן וְאֶשְׁבָּ֖ן וְיִתְרָ֥ן וּכְרָֽן׃ Enfants de Ana: Dichôn… Enfants de Dichôn: Hamrân, Echbân, Yithrân et Kerân.

42 בְּֽנֵי־אֵ֔צֶר בִּלְהָ֥ן וְזַעֲוָ֖ן יַעֲקָ֑ן בְּנֵ֥י דִישׁ֖וֹן ע֥וּץ וַאֲרָֽן׃ {פ}
Enfants d’Ecer: Bilhân, Zaavân et Yaakân. Enfants de Dichôn: Ouç et Arân.

43 וְאֵ֣לֶּה הַמְּלָכִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר מָֽלְכוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ אֱד֔וֹם לִפְנֵ֥י מְלׇךְ־מֶ֖לֶךְ לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בֶּ֚לַע בֶּן־בְּע֔וֹר וְשֵׁ֥ם עִיר֖וֹ דִּנְהָֽבָה׃ Ce sont ici les rois qui régnèrent dans le pays d’Edom, avant qu’un roi régnât sur les enfants d’Israël: Béla, fils de Beor. Le nom de sa ville natale était Dinhaba.

44 וַיָּ֖מׇת בָּ֑לַע וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֔יו יוֹבָ֥ב בֶּן־זֶ֖רַח מִבׇּצְרָֽה׃ Béla étant mort, à sa place régna Yobab, fils de Zérah, de Boçra.

45 וַיָּ֖מׇת יוֹבָ֑ב וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֔יו חוּשָׁ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ הַתֵּימָנִֽי׃ Yobab étant mort, à sa place régna Houcham, du pays des Témanites.

46 וַיָּ֖מׇת חוּשָׁ֑ם וַיִּמְלֹ֨ךְ תַּחְתָּ֜יו הֲדַ֣ד בֶּן־בְּדַ֗ד הַמַּכֶּ֤ה אֶת־מִדְיָן֙ בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה מוֹאָ֔ב וְשֵׁ֥ם עִיר֖וֹ (עיות) [עֲוִֽית]׃ Houcham étant mort, à sa place régna Hadad, fils de Bedad, qui défit Madiân dans la campagne de Moab. Le nom de sa ville était Avith.

47 וַיָּ֖מׇת הֲדָ֑ד וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֔יו שַׂמְלָ֖ה מִמַּשְׂרֵקָֽה׃ Hadad étant mort, à sa place régna Samla, de Masrêka.

48 וַיָּ֖מׇת שַׂמְלָ֑ה וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֔יו שָׁא֖וּל מֵרְחֹב֥וֹת הַנָּהָֽר׃ Samla étant mort, à sa place régna Chaoul, de Rehoboth-sur-le-Fleuve.

49 וַיָּ֖מׇת שָׁא֑וּל וַיִּמְלֹ֣ךְ תַּחְתָּ֔יו בַּ֥עַל חָנָ֖ן בֶּן־עַכְבּֽוֹר׃ Chaoul étant mort, à sa place régna Baal-Hanân, fils d’Akhbor.

50 וַיָּ֙מׇת֙ בַּ֣עַל חָנָ֔ן וַיִּמְלֹ֤ךְ תַּחְתָּיו֙ הֲדַ֔ד וְשֵׁ֥ם עִיר֖וֹ פָּ֑עִי וְשֵׁ֨ם אִשְׁתּ֤וֹ מְהֵֽיטַבְאֵל֙ בַּת־מַטְרֵ֔ד בַּ֖ת מֵ֥י זָהָֽב׃ Baal-Hanân étant mort à sa place régna Hadad, dont la ville avait nom Pâï et dont la femme s’appelait Mehêtabel, fille de Matred, fille de Mê-Zahab.

51 וַיָּ֖מׇת הֲדָ֑ד {פ}
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ אַלּוּפֵ֣י אֱד֔וֹם אַלּ֥וּף תִּמְנָ֛ע אַלּ֥וּף (עליה) [עַֽלְוָ֖ה] אַלּ֥וּף יְתֵֽת׃ Hadad mourut, et voici quels furent les chefs d’Edom: le chef Timna, le chef Alva, le chef Yethêth,

52 אַלּ֧וּף אׇהֳלִיבָמָ֛ה אַלּ֥וּף אֵלָ֖ה אַלּ֥וּף פִּינֹֽן׃ le chef Oholibama, le chef Ela, le chef Pinôn,

53 אַלּ֥וּף קְנַ֛ז אַלּ֥וּף תֵּימָ֖ן אַלּ֥וּף מִבְצָֽר׃ le chef Kenaz, le chef Têmân, le chef Mibçar,

54 אַלּ֥וּף מַגְדִּיאֵ֖ל אַלּ֣וּף עִירָ֑ם אֵ֖לֶּה אַלּוּפֵ֥י אֱדֽוֹם׃ {פ}
le chef Magdiêl, le chef Iram. Tels furent les chefs d’Edom.

And Canaan begot, etc. They are eleven, and with Canaan they are twelve. This is what is written: “He set up the boundaries of the peoples.” He set up the boundaries of the peoples corresponding to the tribes of Israel, for they too are twelve; corresponding to the tribes of Israel, He set up the boundaries of the peoples, on the pattern of (Gen. 21:29): “... that you set up (הִצַּבְתָּ) by themselves.”
