Isaïe 46:6

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

46

2 קָרְס֤וּ כָֽרְעוּ֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו לֹ֥א יָכְל֖וּ מַלֵּ֣ט מַשָּׂ֑א וְנַפְשָׁ֖ם בַּשְּׁבִ֥י הָלָֽכָה׃ {פ}
5 לְמִ֥י תְדַמְּי֖וּנִי וְתַשְׁו֑וּ וְתַמְשִׁל֖וּנִי וְנִדְמֶֽה׃ À qui oserez-vous me comparer, m’égaler?
6 הַזָּלִ֤ים זָהָב֙ מִכִּ֔יס וְכֶ֖סֶף בַּקָּנֶ֣ה יִשְׁקֹ֑לוּ יִשְׂכְּר֤וּ צוֹרֵף֙ וְיַעֲשֵׂ֣הוּ אֵ֔ל יִסְגְּד֖וּ אַף־יִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃ En voilà qui sortent avec profusion l’or de leur bourse et pèsent de l’argent à la balance; ils engagent un orfèvre pour qu’il en fasse un dieu, puis se courbent et se prosternent.
Souvenez-vous de cela et comportez-vous en hommes; infidèles, prenez-le à cœur.

Ibn Ezra

English

They lavish gold, etc. Many compare this word with אזל is spent (1 Sam. 9:7), and assume here the elision of the first radical (א) ; but it is in fact hap. leg.; for אזל is intransitive. הזלים means who give. Out of the bag. The bag is a part of the balance; comp. בכיסך in thy bag (Deut. 25:13). The succeeding בקנה has a similar meaning; it is hap. leg.
