1 שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת אֶל־יְ֭הֹוָה בַּצָּרָ֣תָה לִּ֑י קָ֝רָ֗אתִי וַֽיַּעֲנֵֽנִי׃ Cantique des degrés. Vers l’Éternel j’ai crié dans ma détresse, et il m’a exaucé.

2 יְֽהֹוָ֗ה הַצִּ֣ילָה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת־שֶׁ֑קֶר מִלָּשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃ Seigneur, délivre-moi des lèvres mensongères, de la langue perfide.

3 מַה־יִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭ךָ וּמַה־יֹּסִ֥יף לָ֗ךְ לָשׁ֥וֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃ Quel profit te donnera-t-elle, quel avantage, cette langue perfide,

4 חִצֵּ֣י גִבּ֣וֹר שְׁנוּנִ֑ים עִ֝֗ם גַּחֲלֵ֥י רְתָמִֽים׃ [pareille] aux flèches des guerriers, aiguisées aux charbons ardents des genêts?

5 אֽוֹיָה־לִ֭י כִּי־גַ֣רְתִּי מֶ֑שֶׁךְ שָׁ֝כַ֗נְתִּי עִֽם־אׇהֳלֵ֥י קֵדָֽר׃ Quel malheur pour moi d’avoir séjourné à Méchec, demeuré près des tentes de Kêdar!

6 רַ֭בַּת שָֽׁכְנָה־לָּ֣הּ נַפְשִׁ֑י עִ֝֗ם שׂוֹנֵ֥א שָׁלֽוֹם׃ Trop longtemps mon âme a vécu dans le voisinage de ceux qui haïssent la paix.

7 אֲֽנִי־שָׁ֭לוֹם וְכִ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר הֵ֝֗מָּה לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ {פ}
Je suis, moi, tout à la paix, et quand je la proclame, eux ne méditent que guerre.
