Ecclésiaste 10:6

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

10

Le sage a le cœur à droite, le cœur du sot est à gauche.

[The evil:] He has placed folly [i.e., men of wickedness and folly, who are destined to destroy the Temple] in the height of heights, and the "wealthy" [i.e., Israel, the distinguished men of my (Solomon's) days] shall sit in lowliness [viz. Eichah 2:10].

Commentaires sur Ecclésiaste 10:6

Rashi

English

Folly is set upon great heights. This is the evil that is like an error which goes forth from before the ruler, that foolishness and wickedness are placed on the loftiest heights, for the Holy One, Blessed Is He, elevated the fools and the wicked, for I see with the Holy Spirit, that they are destined to extend their hand upon His Temple and to make “their signs for signs.”

But the rich sit in low places. Yisroel, for despite all the greatness and honor that they have now in my days, they are destined to sit in a low place, as it is stated, “they sit on the ground, they are silent.”
