Ecclésiaste 3:16

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

3

2 עֵ֥ת לָלֶ֖דֶת        וְעֵ֣ת לָמ֑וּת        עֵ֣ת לָטַ֔עַת        וְעֵ֖ת לַעֲק֥וֹר נָטֽוּעַ׃         Il est un temps pour naître et un temps pour mourir, un temps pour planter et un temps pour déraciner ce qui était planté;
3 עֵ֤ת לַהֲרוֹג֙        וְעֵ֣ת לִרְפּ֔וֹא        עֵ֥ת לִפְר֖וֹץ        וְעֵ֥ת לִבְנֽוֹת׃         un temps pour tuer et un temps pour guérir, un temps pour démolir et un temps pour bâtir;
4 עֵ֤ת לִבְכּוֹת֙        וְעֵ֣ת לִשְׂח֔וֹק        עֵ֥ת סְפ֖וֹד        וְעֵ֥ת רְקֽוֹד׃         un temps pour pleurer et un temps pour rire, un temps pour se lamenter et un temps pour danser;
5 עֵ֚ת לְהַשְׁלִ֣יךְ אֲבָנִ֔ים        וְעֵ֖ת כְּנ֣וֹס אֲבָנִ֑ים        עֵ֣ת לַחֲב֔וֹק        וְעֵ֖ת לִרְחֹ֥ק מֵחַבֵּֽק׃         un temps pour jeter des pierres et un temps pour ramasser des pierres, un temps pour embrasser et un temps pour repousser les caresses;
6 עֵ֤ת לְבַקֵּשׁ֙        וְעֵ֣ת לְאַבֵּ֔ד        עֵ֥ת לִשְׁמ֖וֹר        וְעֵ֥ת לְהַשְׁלִֽיךְ׃         un temps pour chercher [ce qui est perdu] et un temps pour perdre, un temps pour conserver et un temps pour dissiper;
7 עֵ֤ת לִקְר֙וֹעַ֙        וְעֵ֣ת לִתְפּ֔וֹר        עֵ֥ת לַחֲשׁ֖וֹת        וְעֵ֥ת לְדַבֵּֽר׃         un temps pour déchirer et un temps pour coudre, un temps pour se taire et un temps pour parler;

And I have further seen [(by the Holy Spirit)] that in the place of justice [(the chamber of hewn stone in Jerusalem, viz. Isaiah 1:21, the seat of Sanhedrin)], there will wickedness be adjudicated [viz. Michah 3:11], and in the place of righteousness [(the middle gate, where halachoth were formulated)], there will [the counsels of] wickedness [be seated].

Commentaires sur Ecclésiaste 3:16

Rashi

English

In the place of justice, etc. I saw with the Holy Spirit, the place of the Chamber of Hewn Stone in Yerusholayim, which was, “full of justice,” there they judge wickedly, as it is stated, “Her leaders judge for bribes,” and I saw their punishment.

And in the place of righteousness. The middle gate, which was the place where laws were established.

There was wickedness. There sat Sarsachim, the chief captain, Nergal Saretzer, the chief officer, and Nevuchadnetzar and his armies, and they judged Yisroel with harsh tortures and death sentences.

There was wickedness. The accent mark is above [i.e., before the last syllable], indicating that it is a noun like [the preceding] ‘הָרֶשַׁע [wickedness].’ (It should have been vowelized with a segol under the resh, but since it is at the end of the verse, it is changed to be vowelized with a kamatz gadol, although we do not find another instance [of this word], and the pei of the second פצע is vowelized with a kamatz because of the esnachta. (Sifsei Chachomim) where it changes in the case of an esnachta or a sof pasuk).
