Ruth 3:13

Bible du Rabbinat 1899 [fr]

3

7 וַיֹּ֨אכַל בֹּ֤עַז וַיֵּשְׁתְּ֙ וַיִּיטַ֣ב לִבּ֔וֹ וַיָּבֹ֕א לִשְׁכַּ֖ב בִּקְצֵ֣ה הָעֲרֵמָ֑ה וַתָּבֹ֣א בַלָּ֔ט וַתְּגַ֥ל מַרְגְּלֹתָ֖יו וַתִּשְׁכָּֽב׃ Booz mangea et but et fut d’humeur joyeuse; puis il alla se coucher au pied du monceau de blé.
11 וְעַתָּ֗ה בִּתִּי֙ אַל־תִּ֣ירְאִ֔י כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמְרִ֖י אֶעֱשֶׂה־לָּ֑ךְ כִּ֤י יוֹדֵ֙עַ֙ כׇּל־שַׁ֣עַר עַמִּ֔י כִּ֛י אֵ֥שֶׁת חַ֖יִל אָֽתְּ׃ Maintenant, ma fille, sois sans crainte; tout ce que tu me demanderas, je le ferai pour toi, car tous les habitants de notre ville savent que tu es une vaillante femme.
17 וַתֹּ֕אמֶר שֵׁשׁ־הַשְּׂעֹרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה נָ֣תַן לִ֑י כִּ֚י אָמַ֣ר [אֵלַ֔י] אַל־תָּב֥וֹאִי רֵיקָ֖ם אֶל־חֲמוֹתֵֽךְ׃ "Voici, ajouta-t-elle, six mesures d’orge qu’il m’a données en me disant: Tu ne dois pas revenir les mains vides auprès de ta belle-mère."

Commentaires sur Ruth 3:13

Rashi

English

Stay the night. Stay over [one more night] without a husband.

As Adonoy lives. She said to him, “You are dismissing me with words [i.e., excuses].” He jumped up and swore to her that he would not dismiss her with words. Some of our Rabbis said that he swore to his evil inclination, for his evil inclination was inciting him [by saying], “You are not married and she is not married; be intimate with her.” So he swore that he would not be intimate with her except with marriage.

Ibn Ezra

English

"אם יגאלך טוב (if he will perform to thee the part of a kinsman, well):" Some say that "טוב" (Tov) was the name of the kinsman. However, if this were so, why does the text in the scroll later say, "Turn aside, sit down here, Ploni Almoni" (a certain someone)? Rather, its meaning is, if the kinsman will redeem you, it is good for you that he should redeem, because he is an important person.
