1 בָּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם לֹ֣א תִתְגֹּֽדְד֗וּ וְלֹֽא־תָשִׂ֧ימוּ קׇרְחָ֛ה בֵּ֥ין עֵינֵיכֶ֖ם לָמֵֽת׃ "Vous êtes les enfants de l’Éternel, votre Dieu: ne vous tailladez point le corps, ne vous rasez pas entre les yeux, en l’honneur d’un mort.

2 כִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ וּבְךָ֞ בָּחַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה לִֽהְי֥וֹת לוֹ֙ לְעַ֣ם סְגֻלָּ֔ה מִכֹּל֙ הָֽעַמִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הָאֲדָמָֽה׃ {ס} Car tu es un peuple consacré à l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et c’est toi qu’il a choisi, l’Éternel, pour lui être un peuple spécial entre tous les peuples répandus sur la terre.

3 לֹ֥א תֹאכַ֖ל כׇּל־תּוֹעֵבָֽה׃ Tu ne mangeras d’aucune chose abominable.

4 זֹ֥את הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר תֹּאכֵ֑לוּ שׁ֕וֹר שֵׂ֥ה כְשָׂבִ֖ים וְשֵׂ֥ה עִזִּֽים׃ Voici les animaux dont vous pouvez manger: le bœuf, le menu bétail, brebis et chèvre;

5 אַיָּ֥ל וּצְבִ֖י וְיַחְמ֑וּר וְאַקּ֥וֹ וְדִישֹׁ֖ן וּתְא֥וֹ וָזָֽמֶר׃ le cerf, le chevreuil, le daim, le bouquetin, l’antilope, l’aurochs, le zémer.

6 וְכׇל־בְּהֵמָ֞ה מַפְרֶ֣סֶת פַּרְסָ֗ה וְשֹׁסַ֤עַת שֶׁ֙סַע֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י פְרָס֔וֹת מַעֲלַ֥ת גֵּרָ֖ה בַּבְּהֵמָ֑ה אֹתָ֖הּ תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ Bref, tout quadrupède qui a le pied corné et divisé en deux ongles distincts, parmi les animaux ruminants, vous pouvez le manger.

7 אַ֣ךְ אֶת־זֶ֞ה לֹ֤א תֹֽאכְלוּ֙ מִמַּֽעֲלֵ֣י הַגֵּרָ֔ה וּמִמַּפְרִיסֵ֥י הַפַּרְסָ֖ה הַשְּׁסוּעָ֑ה אֶֽת־הַ֠גָּמָ֠ל וְאֶת־הָאַרְנֶ֨בֶת וְאֶת־הַשָּׁפָ֜ן כִּֽי־מַעֲלֵ֧ה גֵרָ֣ה הֵ֗מָּה וּפַרְסָה֙ לֹ֣א הִפְרִ֔יסוּ טְמֵאִ֥ים הֵ֖ם לָכֶֽם׃ Mais vous ne mangerez point les suivants, qui ruminent ou qui ont l’ongle fendu seulement: le chameau, le lièvre, la gerboise (car ils ruminent, mais n’ont pas l’ongle fendu: ils seront impurs pour vous);

8 וְאֶת־הַ֠חֲזִ֠יר כִּֽי־מַפְרִ֨יס פַּרְסָ֥ה הוּא֙ וְלֹ֣א גֵרָ֔ה טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָכֶ֑ם מִבְּשָׂרָם֙ לֹ֣א תֹאכֵ֔לוּ וּבְנִבְלָתָ֖ם לֹ֥א תִגָּֽעוּ׃ {ס} ni le porc, parce qu’il a l’ongle fendu, mais ne rumine point: il sera impur pour vous. Ne mangez point de leur chair, et ne touchez point à leur cadavre.

9 אֶת־זֶה֙ תֹּֽאכְל֔וּ מִכֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּמָּ֑יִם כֹּ֧ל אֲשֶׁר־ל֛וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר וְקַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ Voici ceux que vous mangerez, entre les animaux aquatiques: tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles, vous pouvez le manger;

10 וְכֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁ֧ר אֵֽין־ל֛וֹ סְנַפִּ֥יר וְקַשְׂקֶ֖שֶׂת לֹ֣א תֹאכֵ֑לוּ טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָכֶֽם׃ {ס} mais tout ce qui est privé de nageoires et d’écailles, vous n’en mangerez point: c’est impur pour vous.

11 כׇּל־צִפּ֥וֹר טְהֹרָ֖ה תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ Tout oiseau pur, vous pouvez le manger.

12 וְזֶ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־תֹאכְל֖וּ מֵהֶ֑ם הַנֶּ֥שֶׁר וְהַפֶּ֖רֶס וְהָֽעׇזְנִיָּֽה׃ Voici ceux que vous ne mangerez point: l’aigle, l’orfraie, la valérie;

13 וְהָרָאָה֙ וְאֶת־הָ֣אַיָּ֔ה וְהַדַּיָּ֖ה לְמִינָֽהּ׃ le faucon, le vautour, l’autour selon ses espèces;

14 וְאֵ֥ת כׇּל־עֹרֵ֖ב לְמִינֽוֹ׃ tous les corbeaux selon leurs espèces;

15 וְאֵת֙ בַּ֣ת הַֽיַּעֲנָ֔ה וְאֶת־הַתַּחְמָ֖ס וְאֶת־הַשָּׁ֑חַף וְאֶת־הַנֵּ֖ץ לְמִינֵֽהוּ׃ l’autruche, l’hirondelle, la mouette, l’épervier selon ses espèces;

16 אֶת־הַכּ֥וֹס וְאֶת־הַיַּנְשׁ֖וּף וְהַתִּנְשָֽׁמֶת׃ le hibou, la hulotte, le porphyrion;

17 וְהַקָּאָ֥ת וְאֶֽת־הָרָחָ֖מָה וְאֶת־הַשָּׁלָֽךְ׃ le pélican, le percnoptère, le cormoran;

18 וְהַ֣חֲסִידָ֔ה וְהָאֲנָפָ֖ה לְמִינָ֑הּ וְהַדּוּכִיפַ֖ת וְהָעֲטַלֵּֽף׃ la cigogne, le héron selon ses espèces, le tétras et la chauve-souris.

19 וְכֹל֙ שֶׁ֣רֶץ הָע֔וֹף טָמֵ֥א ה֖וּא לָכֶ֑ם לֹ֖א יֵאָכֵֽלוּ׃ Tout insecte ailé sera impur pour vous, l’on n’en mangera point;

20 כׇּל־ע֥וֹף טָה֖וֹר תֹּאכֵֽלוּ׃ mais tout volatile pur, vous pourrez le manger.

21 לֹ֣א תֹאכְל֣וּ כׇל־נְ֠בֵלָ֠ה לַגֵּ֨ר אֲשֶׁר־בִּשְׁעָרֶ֜יךָ תִּתְּנֶ֣נָּה וַאֲכָלָ֗הּ א֤וֹ מָכֹר֙ לְנׇכְרִ֔י כִּ֣י עַ֤ם קָדוֹשׁ֙ אַתָּ֔ה לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ לֹֽא־תְבַשֵּׁ֥ל גְּדִ֖י בַּחֲלֵ֥ב אִמּֽוֹ׃ {פ}
Vous ne mangerez d’aucune bête morte: donne-la à manger à l’étranger admis dans tes murs, ou vends-la à ceux du dehors, car tu es un peuple consacré à l’Éternel, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

22 עַשֵּׂ֣ר תְּעַשֵּׂ֔ר אֵ֖ת כׇּל־תְּבוּאַ֣ת זַרְעֶ֑ךָ הַיֹּצֵ֥א הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה שָׁנָ֥ה שָׁנָֽה׃ Tu prélèveras la dîme du produit de ta semence, de ce qui vient annuellement sur ton champ,

23 וְאָכַלְתָּ֞ לִפְנֵ֣י ׀ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ בַּמָּק֣וֹם אֲשֶׁר־יִבְחַר֮ לְשַׁכֵּ֣ן שְׁמ֣וֹ שָׁם֒ מַעְשַׂ֤ר דְּגָֽנְךָ֙ תִּירֹשְׁךָ֣ וְיִצְהָרֶ֔ךָ וּבְכֹרֹ֥ת בְּקָרְךָ֖ וְצֹאנֶ֑ךָ לְמַ֣עַן תִּלְמַ֗ד לְיִרְאָ֛ה אֶת־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ כׇּל־הַיָּמִֽים׃ et tu la consommeras en présence de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, dans la localité qu’il aura choisie comme résidence de son nom; savoir, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton menu bétail, afin que tu t’accoutumes à honorer continuellement l’Éternel, ton Dieu.

24 וְכִֽי־יִרְבֶּ֨ה מִמְּךָ֜ הַדֶּ֗רֶךְ כִּ֣י לֹ֣א תוּכַל֮ שְׂאֵתוֹ֒ כִּֽי־יִרְחַ֤ק מִמְּךָ֙ הַמָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִבְחַר֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ לָשׂ֥וּם שְׁמ֖וֹ שָׁ֑ם כִּ֥י יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ Si le chemin, trop long pour toi, ne te permet pas ce transport, éloigné que tu seras du lieu choisi par l’Éternel, ton Dieu, comme siège de son nom, et parce que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’aura comblé de biens,

25 וְנָתַתָּ֖ה בַּכָּ֑סֶף וְצַרְתָּ֤ הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ בְּיָ֣דְךָ֔ וְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙ אֶל־הַמָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִבְחַ֛ר יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ בּֽוֹ׃ tu les convertiras en argent, tu réuniras la somme dans ta main, et tu iras à l’endroit que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, aura choisi.

26 וְנָתַתָּ֣ה הַכֶּ֡סֶף בְּכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר־תְּאַוֶּ֨ה נַפְשְׁךָ֜ בַּבָּקָ֣ר וּבַצֹּ֗אן וּבַיַּ֙יִן֙ וּבַשֵּׁכָ֔ר וּבְכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּֽשְׁאָלְךָ֖ נַפְשֶׁ֑ךָ וְאָכַ֣לְתָּ שָּׁ֗ם לִפְנֵי֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ וְשָׂמַחְתָּ֖ אַתָּ֥ה וּבֵיתֶֽךָ׃ Tu emploieras cet argent à telle chose qu’il te plaira, gros ou menu bétail, vins ou liqueurs fortes, enfin ce que ton goût réclamera, et tu le consommeras là, en présence de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et tu te réjouiras avec ta famille.

27 וְהַלֵּוִ֥י אֲשֶׁר־בִּשְׁעָרֶ֖יךָ לֹ֣א תַֽעַזְבֶ֑נּוּ כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין ל֛וֹ חֵ֥לֶק וְנַחֲלָ֖ה עִמָּֽךְ׃ {ס} Et le Lévite qui sera dans tes murs, tu ne le négligeras pas, car il n’a point de part ni de patrimoine comme toi.

28 מִקְצֵ֣ה ׀ שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֗ים תּוֹצִיא֙ אֶת־כׇּל־מַעְשַׂר֙ תְּבוּאָ֣תְךָ֔ בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה הַהִ֑וא וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ בִּשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃ A la fin de la troisième année, tu extrairas la dîme entière de tes produits de cette année et tu la déposeras dans tes murs,

29 וּבָ֣א הַלֵּוִ֡י כִּ֣י אֵֽין־לוֹ֩ חֵ֨לֶק וְנַחֲלָ֜ה עִמָּ֗ךְ וְ֠הַגֵּ֠ר וְהַיָּת֤וֹם וְהָֽאַלְמָנָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּשְׁעָרֶ֔יךָ וְאָכְל֖וּ וְשָׂבֵ֑עוּ לְמַ֤עַן יְבָרֶכְךָ֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ בְּכׇל־מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדְךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃ {ס} pour que le Lévite, qui n’a point de part ni de patrimoine comme toi, l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui sont dans tes murs, puissent venir manger et se rassasier; de la sorte, l’Éternel, ton Dieu, te bénira en toute œuvre que ta main pourra faire.

The passage at the boundary of three years discusses the Pauper’s Tithe. During this year, one should not set apart the Second Tithe [Rosh HaShana 12b]. Some say, though, that one should set apart all three tithes. The Dissenters assert that the passage “you must set aside…” [: 22] denotes the first tithe

(and that the passage “take the money in your hand…” [: 22] is addressed to the Levites, just as the phrase “the firstlings of your herds” [: 23] is addressed to the Kohanim),...

boundary here denotes the beginning and that there is a second tithe only every three years, known as the Pauper’s Tithe — but we shall rely on our ancestral tradition.
