ויריצוהו מן הבור. What happened was characteristic of G’d’s intervention when saving someone. It happened unexpectedly and instantly. It corresponded to what Isaiah 56,1 described as כי קרובה ישועתי לבא, “for My salvation is close at hand.” Another description of this kind of sudden and instantaneous salvation is found in Psalms 81, 14-15 לו עמי שומע לי...כמעט אויביהם אכניע, “if only My people would listen to Me….I would humble their enemies at once.” This is exactly what happened at the Exodus from Egypt where, after hundreds of years of subjugation and the refusal to allow even a three-day religious holiday in the desert, the Egyptians suddenly not only released the Israelites but literally expelled them from the country (Exodus 12,39). Our sages in illustrating the suddenness focus on the line “they did not even have time to allow their dough to rise before the glory of G’d appeared and redeemed them.” The redemption of the Jewish people will occur similarly suddenly and unexpectedly, as foretold in Maleachi 3,1 ופתאם יבא אל היכלו האדון אשר אתם מבקשים, “and the Lord Whom you seek shall come suddenly to His Temple.”
ויחלף שמלותיו. It is forbidden to appear in the Royal palace clad in sackcloth, prisoner’s garb. [we know this already from Esther chapter 4 when Mordechai, to the consternation of Esther, approached the palace dressed in sackcloth.

English
ויחלף שמלותיו, “he changed his clothing.” Our sages saw a hint in these two words that Joseph was brought before Pharaoh on Rosh Hashanah, as stated by the Talmud, tractate Rosh Hashanah folio 11. The numerical value of the letters in these two words is the same as in the words: בחד בתשרי on the first day of the month of Tishrey (Rosh Hashanah) Our author questions this as the word שמלותיו has the letter ו missing in the middle of the word.
